About Susie Harris
Welcome, New Friends!
Hi, I’m Susie Harris—Louisiana‑born maker, decorator, sign‑painter and lover of all things DIY. If we were chatting on my front porch, I’d tell you that you’re only company once around here; after that, you’re family. So pour a glass of sweet tea and stay a while.
A Homegrown Story
I grew up—and still live—within five miles of where I was born. My husband and I built our home on family land so our kids could run between grandparents’ houses just like I did. Every wall (and a few ceilings!) has been painted more than once as my style has evolved from rustic cottage to soft, vintage‑inspired neutrals.
What You’ll Find on This Blog
- DIY Crafts & Projects: From pallet signs and pressed‑flower bookmarks to quick seasonal wreaths.
- Home & Garden Décor: Budget‑friendly makeovers, paint updates, patio planters and more.
- Hand‑Painted Signs: The lettering projects that started it all and still have my heart.
- Wellness & Simple Living: Little reminders to slow down and enjoy the home you’re creating.
Whether you’re a seasoned crafter or picking up a paintbrush for the first time, you’ll find step‑by‑step tutorials, printable templates and plenty of encouragement.
My Creative Philosophy
- Paint is cheap—try it! If the color’s wrong, grab another can and roll again.
- Make your home your own. Trends fade, but a space filled with pieces that tell your story never goes out of style.
- Share what you learn. Every tutorial here is written so even one reader can say, “I can do that!”
Featured & Loved
My work has been highlighted by Southern Hospitality, Houzz, Pinterest creators and countless fellow bloggers. But the biggest honor is seeing your projects inspired by mine.
