Beignets anyone?.....

We have a little get a way that we come to every now and then. It's close to home but feels miles away from the ordinary.

It's a neat little village made up of old creole cabins filled with courtyard and giftshops!

I could spend days just resting in their courtyards but that would mean I would need to buy new clothes.

Why you asked?
Because they have the best beignets and cafe au Lait in these parts.
This is serious business to us. We love food and if it's deep fried....well ..you get the point. Just in case you have no idea what a beinget is it's french for fried dough. It's simply a deep fried doughnut with some powered sugar on top. You can even have yours filled with fried apples or other toppings if you like. They can even top your beignet with crawfish! Now that's good eatin' sha

So now you know why I cant stay in their courtyards for days. This girl has some painting to do and I just may have a few surprises  for yall this coming week.....((hugs)))....

Oh man, you got my mouth a'waterin'. I love me some beignets. With powdered sugar on top. Yummmmmmyyyyyy! Just don't wear black when you eat them. I learned that the hard way :)

Luckly, noone makes them up here in CO like they do in your neck of the woods. Lucky for my waist line for sure.

Now I'm craving some. Thanks Susie!

We were at Universal Studios last March and they were celebrating Mardi Gras. I had to have them there cause I was missing New Orleans really bad and they weren't the same.. I contributed it to not being 3 am and having drank hurricanes at Pat O'Briens all night but it still didn't curb my craving for them. I keep saying when the kids are older I want to take them down for the celebration. They did throw beads and dubloons during the parade..

Oh, yes, I do love me some beignets. The only way I can get them, though, is if I make my own from the Cafe du Monde mix that you can buy in the grocery store. Not quite like your courtyard, but still. . . .

Hope you're having a wonderful weekend!

We went to New Orleans for the National Championship game back in 2000 and we fell in love with beignets. After the game we got a taxi and went to Cafe Du Monde at one in the morning to get some. They are delish!
