By the seashore...

I'm trying to break out and try new things.

I find it funny when I do...

I think I have found a new love!

Meet this Mister!

I wanted to dive right in on these yummy colors.

He measures 14" x 15" with his wooden frame included.

This guy would bring a bit of "summer fun" to about any room.

I'm thinking about adding a few more to go along with this fella.

What ya think?

What would you like to see?

Maybe a seahorse, starfish....

I was going to wait and introduce him at my upcoming insta sale on my IG but I couldn't wait a minute longer.

He is now listed in my shop.

Hurry... check him out!

If you would like to catch my insta sale coming soon on IG...

I would love to have you join along!

Somewhere in the middle...

Do you see it?

It's somewhere in the middle.

We removed the microwave a few days ago and now we have this huge hole.

At first I wanted to board up my doors and windows and let no one in.

Then three seconds later, I called my sister and BIL and invited them over for hot

Life gets messy and who better to share it with than family, right?

So here is my plan for that huge hole.

I've ordered a replacement vent hood to neatly fit into a cabinet.

The cabinet construction can't begin until we have our vent..

It's one of those hurry up and wait deals.

I'm so excited about everything though.

The normal person would wait and do their remodel all at once.

I....take baby steps.

I'm paying cash for everything as we go so it's a process.

This also gives me plenty of time to think about what I would really enjoy in here.

It's been a blessing having my sister build next door.

She has wonderful taste and I can snitch her scraps of tile and see if they work.

She had couple left over so I walked them over and put them next to my sink..

I think I love them!

I'm wanting marble for my counter tops...

oh how I'm wanting marble.

That will be one of the last things on my list to purchase I'm sure.

Well, right before flooring.

This process may take some

Once my hood and cabinet are installed, I will work on replacing my stove.

I love my old one so dearly and would not part with it other than the's the white sheep!

So now, I must paint. And paint. And paint some more!

This girl has a kitchen to re'do...

Need a sign?

Replacing Fluorescent Lighting

We just took about 12 years off our home...

We started with these beauties above.

I'm still searching for an original picture with the oak stained wide trim and plastic cover.

A beaut I tell ya!

Honestly, I don't even remember picking out my kitchen lighting.

It was just a known fact that you put recessed fluorescent lighting with matching cabinet trim.

All the cool kids were doing it.

So I searched for fixes for my follow the leader fluorescent nightmare.

We could take it down and have someone charge us an arm an leg (maybe a small child even) to redo our sheet rock.

We could find a fix that I loved and we could handle on our own.

I liked that option much better.

I found it below...have mercy!

I knew ours wouldn't be as large and dramatic but perfect all the same.

So we removed the long bulbs and wide trim from the ceiling.

Below you can see where we replaced the wide flat trim on the outside edges with thinner nicer molding.

We also added some wide trim on the inner box LOVE...

I must add that we are NOT trim molding experts.

In fact, I dare say we even know what we are doing.

But when you put my dreams and my husbands love for me together...

Great things happen!

After we finished installing all of the trim molding, we had the electrical to deal with.

For that fix we headed to Lowe's and spoke with a few guys.

They were so kind to help us and introduced us to the LED world.

Insert four can lights!

Oh happy day!

Let me stop here for a minute and tell you how awesome LED lighting is.

It has changed my world!!

(we patched the holes with a kit) easy peasy.

I find myself looking up and just smiling BIG

Not just because I have removed that ugly eye sore I tried to avoid while taking pictures but.....

Because my sweetie took off two vacation days to make me happy.

We worked together, laughed together and even almost cried together when edges didn't match.

We didn't give up and I'm so happy...

The cost came with the molding and the bulbs.

The housing for the lighting was on sale.

And we didn't stop there...

We removed our over the sink pendant and replaced it with this mister.

He is kinda rocking my world right now!

I will share all about him soon.

So much to do yet and so exciting!!!!

Letting the unexpected in.

Thinking back over last night reminded me of our sisters trip we took.

My Mother in law was having a birthday and I wanted to do something special for her.

How could I when my kitchen was covered in sheet rock dust and half painted?

Who does that?

We do.

We removed the ladder and saws, we dusted most of the sheet rock powder and we hung balloons.

Lots of pink fluffy balloons with curly white streamers.

So many in fact, I think no one even noticed that above their heads hung unpainted sheet rock.

I mean like...who cares when there is cake right?

As I watched my family eat and celebrate life, I got it!

It's what it's all about.

If we take the time to see past that locked door....

And really look deep inside to what matters....

That's where you find where all the blessings are hidden.

I'm finding the beauty.

I hope you take time today to stop and find the beauty that surrounds you.

It's there.. I promise.

It's among that laundry needing to be folded on your couch.

Thank you Lord for family.

It's among those four office walls.

Thank you Lord for providing.

It's among that supper waiting to be cooked.

Thank you Lord for the food we eat.

It's here on my screen.

Thank you Lord for my blog friends so sweet.

Paint, Hardware, Dishes..oh my!

So much has been going down in my tiny kitchen and yet, still so much to do!

For starters, as you may remember, we removed our cabinet doors.

I repainted the upper cabinets a wonderful white from Sherwin Williams. It is called snowbound

Painting the inside of cabinets is no walk in the park. If you plan to take on a task such as this....

A tiny roller is the way to go!

Praying to remove the microwave soon.

My lower set of cabinets remained the same color.

It's an awesome color called Bedford from Martha Stewart.

If you follow along on instagram, you may have heard all about my love for two different sets of hardware.

Y'all... it's hard picking just one lol.

My husband suggested I just keep both sets and rotate them haha..

I'm not gonna lie...I thought about it.

Many of you voted for the rubbed bronze ... which I loved deeply.

My only problem with them was I was going for a fresh cleaner look.

The chrome just seemed the better choice. They can be found at Lowes .

And thank all of you for the awesome advice in finding great dish sources.

I went to many stores and checked them out.

The winner were these guys below.

I loved the clean lines...

They came from Wal Mart.

The brand is Main Stays.

I plan to add to my set as I go along... love that I can do that.

And while I was shopping around trying to find the perfect dishes...

World Market stole my heart...

I found the sweetest measuring spoons and cups!

have mercy... how sweet!

So now that my cupboards are stocked and we are working on lighting.

A few of you asked about my open cabinets.

Do my dishes get dusty?

So far.. YES..

Only because we are living with a saw and cutting into our

I will keep you posted on that one.

Another was .."where do you store your junk"

Honestly...this gave me a good head start in clearing out clutter.

I rid my cabinets of so many plastic pizza parlor cups... YIKES!

We do eat mainly out of plastic plates so I keep them stored in my lower cabinets.

It's working out well :)

Hope to share more soon!
