Oh baby!

This weekend my sister Missy and I tried our hands at Martha's macaroon recipe.

You can find it in her March 2014 issue.

The ingredients are pretty simple but we did have to locate a few items.

We diverted from Martha's recipe just a bit and used Almond four instead.

How's that for a perfect meringue?

So light and fluffy.

While the cookies were baking, Missy started on the butter cream filling.

Y'all.... I could eat this with a spoon... it's sooo good!

She did let me help just a little lol..

When you put us together...this happens.

It becomes one laugh fest and over the years, we've learned to just enjoy the journey!

So maybe the cookies were a bit lopsided and uneven.

So maybe we consumed a little more butter cream than allowed.

oh... the FUN!

And speaking of fun..

Do you remember back last year when my niece Brittany married her sweetheart?

Missy is happy to announce, she is going to be a Maw Maw!

That makes me one happy great aunt!

That also gave us an excuse to sharpen up on our macaroon skills.

Even though we still have months to go, we are eagerly planning the baby shower.

Oh the fun!!

xoxo Susie & Missy

  1. These turned out beautiful, Susie! I always thought they were hard to make. I love that you and Missy look so much alike, and congratulations to her and her daughter! :)

  2. How wonderful that you and your sister have so much fun together!

  3. Congratulations to your niece!

These macarons look fabulous and even better because they were made with love!

  4. I have wanted to try making these at home but can't summon up the courage. I think doing it with a friend or sister would be perfect. Congrats on the new addition to the family. I have two new great nieces on the way and am very excited!

  5. Oh wow Congrats great aunt Susie - those macaroons look delicious. Time with sisters just cant be beat.

  6. Susie, this post made my heart smile because my sister is my best friend as well. I just wrote the very same words "laugh fest" only minutes ago because I was writing what I am going to say at her memorial tomorrow. The Lord took her home very unexpectedly Sunday and I have lost my soulmate. She was in perfect health and only 53 years old. My sister and I would have been doing the very same thing as you and Missy, laughing and soaking up each minute together. It breaks my heart to know that I will never see her this side of heaven again but I rejoice in knowing she is with our Jesus right now. Give your precious Missy an extra hug the next time you are together...sisters are such a gift!

    1. Linda, my heart aches for you. To lose my sister would be so very hard. Praying peace for you right now!

    2. Oh Linda - may the sweet memories of you sister help you find some peace at this difficult time. Susie and I lost our baby brother at the age of 23 and at that point we realized that we would never judge, or take each other for granted. We always try to find time for each other to make some awesome memories. We realize that what we have is very very special, we always welcome any on who wants to be in our "sister" circle. If you need anything please email me, mbbbsanchez@yahoo.com ...

    3. Linda, I know just what you are feeling and please know that I will keep you in my prayers. It's so hard losing a sibling. Hugs

    4. Thank you sweet ladies for the kind words. I tried sending a note a few days ago but it didn't publish. I hit the wrong button I think! Thank you for your prayers and please, if I could ask one thing, please keep the prayers coming my way. I am not handling this well. I miss my sister beyond words and just knowing that I'll never spend time with her again here on earth is just more than I can take. Life will never be the same, ever and while I know at some point happiness in life willl return, I fear joy may not. I want to be happy and joyful, but sadness and sorrow fill my every minute. Please keep myself and my family in your prayers and thank you once again!

  7. I called my sister last night for her birthday, and we laughed a lot in those 2 1/2 hours!

The macaroons look divine!!! And I'm so happy for your family! Babies, whether they're yours or your sister's, are the best! Although I think Carlyn and I can wait a bit to be grandparents and great aunts! Our boys are just 14 and 15! :D

Thanks for stopping by. It's always so nice to hear from you.
