Ya'll know how much I love my State we call Louisiana.
Ya'll may also know that I have a swamp of my very own in my back yard.
It gives me great pleasure to share a family from our swamps up the road a bit.
They are the Robertsons.
You may have heard of them ...hehehe
The first video hit so close to home I could feel it. LOL
It's real life for us down here.
I can honestly say I have had mystery meat in my fridge before.
I won't say I took part and ate it .. a girl can only go so far.
We have been counting down the days til season 3 and it's here.
It's here Jack!!!!
I think I'm the only one on the planet that doesn't DVR but I will not miss it.
I'm gonna make sure church is over just in time ;) I know they all wanna watch too.
This family may seem a bit odd and silly.
And we all know that Si has to wash that cup sometime..LOL
But all in all.. they love the Lord with all their hearts and it shows.
And just in case you wanna watch.. it's on A&E
My niece is getting married this fall. Yay!!
And because I love her bunches, Marc and I are hosting an engagement party for her this weekend.
Her wedding will be held on a southern plantation. love them..
Her style is leaning toward formal/traditional.
I'm trying to reflect "just that look" into her party.
It's hard when I want to break out the stripe straws and mason jars LOL
I know chalkboard art is a bit vintage shabby but I just could not help myself!
Ever wonder how they do it?
Here's my lil secret..
I first draw out what I want it to look like on paper.
I then go over it with ink.
Flipping it over, I trace the lines with chalk.
I then flip it back over to its right side and place it on the chalkboard.
Rubbing it gently, the chalk underneath marks the board...
You can see the light image above.
All you do is go over it with chalk and darken and fill where needed.
Yes... it's that easy!
What I love the most about chalkboard art is it's so forgiving.
You make a mistake... erase!
You can see above, I made many mistakes LOL
I like leaving some of the chalk dust behind..
Imperfection is "IN"
I think this chalkboard has been one of my favorite DIY projects by far.
I never realised how much I would use this chalkboard.
For those of you that spotted my empty dining room...
Yes.. I have started to decorate a week early.
I do mock ups...LOL
We eat at the bar and live in party mode for about a week before.
Am I the only one that does this?
Or am I just that weird ..LOL?
I woke to this paper trail.
It was tiny paper reminders to call the gym for Maddy. :)
I think she really wants me to get the message hahaha!!
Guess I better take the hint and the other 15 notes and make that call.
She wants to join a tumbling class for cheer.
There's my sign! haha
Not much time for gettin' your craft on?
I have the perfect DIY for you!
I found these cute silhouettes on google and blew them up a bit.
I traced the bunny out on a scrap piece of wood and sanded the edges.
I painted mine with craft paint but you can even stain them for a cute look.
I can just see these in Easter Pastels..
Here is one painted above in white.
I just stuck it in one of my wreaths to see how it would look.
I have double doors so I may need to make another.
You could even make them larger and paint your initial on it.
Or how about "Happy Easter"?
Polka dots or plaid?
What would you do?
Some of you may be buried in blankets of snow right now.
The promise of spring and a good laugh may be just what you need today. Read on
Some of you may remember these lil darlings..
If you missed em, you can check them out here.
I'm trying to hold off the urge to add spring but that may not happen.
Living in the deep south, spring comes early...
Then just when you have your toesies done and you break out your flip flops, it hides again.
Every year we play this tango, acting like we have never danced before.
You would think we would learn by now..
Mother Nature has a sense of humor...
This I know!
The evidence is in the carrot.
While making chicken soup the other night, I stumbled upon this carro'ture.
How can one not laugh?
I won't admit that I made a few jokes and it may have even danced on my counter tops a bit.
Yeah... carrots can do that to you LOL!
I almost wanted to save it and break it out when someone needed a good laugh.
Sometimes imperfection is purposeful, even if it's just for a good laugh.
And good soup!
I hope this at least made you giggle..
Happy Valentines Day ya'll!!
I hope each and every one of you are surrounded with love today.
Oh... flowers and candy are nice but love exceeds all!
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Now that my friends is LOVE!
Speaking of love...
I melt every time I see this picture.
The bedroom belongs to my sweet friend Sara.
I hope you get a chance to visit her blog today and read her post on 40 bags for 40 days.
You'll be blessed!
I get all giggly inside when asked to paint a love note.
I only wish I could see her face when she opens it.
This is just one quote from my Love Letters Collection.
I feel honored to play a small role in someones story.
The letter is 14" x 16 1/2" hand painted and distressed on birch.
Cost of the letter is 38.00 plus shipping.
The love letter quote is up to you.
You can take a peek at my love letter here..
I like the script so much better because it looks hand written.
I just may have to
write paint another one soon.
I often get request to change up my "Every little thing" sign.
I hold my breath for a few seconds in fear.
Who knows why? I surely don't.
I'm not fan of change unless it's color on my walls or trying to race with the ever changing holiday.
I like safe and safe is where I nestle.
So when I'm asked to change things up a bit, I hide.
I think it's fear of "what if they won't like it as much"?
What if I can't make the words fit or make it work?
What if it's an epic fail?
It. Is. Wood.
So I remind myself to trust.
I'm learning that when the Lord brings you to it...
He brings you through it!
Even if it's just painting a ding dong sign LOL
Funny how things bring me back to my very first post.... Jan. 1, 2008.
That's a lot of posting..
939 in 5 years to be exact.
So I'm making a promise to myself to Trust.
To put myself out there even if I fail.
I look around and often feel sad when I see my sweet blogging friends just blossom and do great things.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not sad that they are doing great things.
I'm sad that I let fear stand in my way to join them.
Oh please tell me I'm not the only one..
Have any of you ever felt this way?
If you stay hidden, you stay safe from judgement and mean comments..right?
But when you stay hidden, you miss that sweet sunlight on your face.
You miss making new friends.
I'm not sure where to start or how to begin..again.
But I'm going to.
For starters, I going to visit some new blogs and say HI!
I'm going to find some fun linky parties to join.
I'm going to be that awkward girl trusting in His promise.
I'm going to be ME!
just me :)
I can't believe I'm going to put myself out there but here it goes..
I have been crushing on you for some time now.
I know that we don't really match up and blend in..
but I dig YOU!
We have hung around in the past..
You probably didn't even notice cause it was so subtle.
I'm the kinda girl that plays it safe.
No chances taken here..
I dip my toe in but never...
I mean never take the plunge!
Oh I don't know why I'm so afraid... darn it!
I would so show you off to my family during the holidays.
You and I..
I write you into my life always..
but just never send it.
So I guess what I'm asking is...
I like you.
Do you wanna pair up and go steady sometime?
