Raised in a barn

When I was in grade school our school had a fall festival.

It was perfect in every way with homemade goodies, dunking booths and bingo!

That's where our almost farm began.. me winning BINGO .

Not only did I win a set of brown cut glass tumblers and matching pitcher, I won 65 dollars.lucky me

My Daddy asked me what I wanted to do with my winnings and I told him...

I wanted a cow.

Now keep in mind that we didn't have a farm.

Property and a barn yes but no real farm animals to speak of.

I do remember maybe a chicken or two and a crazy goose...

And I must not forget our family pet. A goat named Nannie.

So my Daddy brought me to the stock yard to pick out a calf.

Long story short..

The calf grew up and Daddy took it for a ride.

From then on I knew I didn't want to be a farmer.

Did I ever mention that we built our home on family land?

Guess what else?

that barn... it's still here.

Years later it did house a cow or two and my brothers horses.

Now.. it holds junk and stands in for props from time to time.

Is it crazy that I want a cow again?

I mean... why waste a perfectly good old run down barn right.

Have you ever raised cows or horses?

I'm playing around with the idea.

Kinda like moving signs around the house.

This one above is headed to Maine as birthday present.

So it's back to butcher charts for me...lol

Horses... although a thing of beauty, they scare me.

Cows are more my speed.

And if I decided to try my hand at farming

 (with 1 cow)

 I will be sure my Daddy doesn't take it for a ride..lol
