Say it ain't faux

Not every thing in life needs to be busy.

Often we think every wall needs to be maxed out.

Every empty space needs a whatchamajig.

Just thinking about it makes me anxious.

I grew up in the age of Home Interiors.

You may have heard of it.

It was a in home based party decor store of sorts.

It started when my Mom booked one party.

She baked a cake, had chips n dip and invited a few friends over.

Then her friends booked a party and Mom had to attend theirs. and . so. on.....

Before you knew it, your walls were covered with copper butterflies and matching candle holders.

I'm telling you, this party saga lasted for years!

I vowed to never do that to my walls. Ever...

Confession.. I have.

It happens before you even notice. honest

With my new wall color, I'm finding a need for simplistic with a homey feel.

Can you relate?

I found just what I was looking for.

I didn't want to spend too much just in case I change my mind.

So I searched around and found these faux canvas prints at Wal Mart.

You can pick up a 16x20 for just 22.96!

It looks just like the real deal without the real deal price.

Mine are done with a matte finish and WM had them ready in 1 hr.

I just downloaded my favorite pictures here and they did the rest.

In case you're wondering what the back looks like...

Instead of a wooden frame it's on a sturdy cardboard.

You would never know unless you took them down and peeked ;)

I could not be happier.

And because I spent so little, I won't feel bad changing them out as they grow.

Now I just need a few bright pillows for the sofa...

And a new rug and curtains and....

just kidding..

(this was NOT a paid ad for Wal Mart)

I just like sharing a good deal with my friends when I find one :)

Have you found any great deals lately?

xoxo Susie

  1. That looks fantastic Susie! What more could you possibly want? Definitely not those copper butterflies!!

    1. Girl .. you know those butterflies are worth a fortune now I bet. LOL

  2. Many times "less is more"!!! I love the prints hanging alone. I have gotten some 8x10 from Canvas People when they had them free, just pay postage. I think I will try Walmart for bigger. I love the look.

    1. Hi Nancy!
Canvas People? Now that sounds like a good deal. How in the world did I miss that one? I'm always a day late haha

  3. No freakin way!!!! I almost fell out of my chair when you said Walmart AND done in less than an hour. WOW!!!! Love the prints. Did you take these portraits, Susie? I'm so impressed. Great job!

    1. Aww Thanks Dana! My sister took the pictures on the far left and right. My good friend Misty took the one in the middle. They were all taken at different times and even seasons but they all just seemed to go. Thanks goodness because getting my hoolagines to pose for pictures is not an easy task.

  4. I had no idea WM could do those! Nice!!

  6. Beautiful children & love the faux canvas prints! Thanks for sharing, I have a wall in our family room that I want to put one of the photos I took at the Grand Canyon printed on canvas but didn't want to break the budget. This might just be the answer!

  7. I LOVE you for this post!!! I want to simplify my walls but didn't want to spend a ton of money, this is just perfect. Thank you!!!

  8. Talk about perfect timing - I want to get a picture done for my sister and have been looking for economical options .. perfection!

PS I can make you a *great* deal on some vintage Home Interiors stuff ...

  9. That looks wonderful! I love the clean look. Thanks for sharing your idea!

  10. The pictures turned out great! I hate to admit it but I am of the age of once owning a few pieces of Home Interior myself - here's to new and improved decor : )

  11. Don't even go there. I am only 52 and I even sold it. And Tupperware, and makeup, and vacuum cleaners oh my! With nice cameras so easy to get, this is such a great idea. Love your blog. Just found it and will be back. Thinking of starting one of my own. Not sure how. Thanks.

  12. “Women really dress based on their body shape. For example, Black Bandage Dress I’m very athletic. I have bigger shoulders and bigger bust Herve Leger Dress and smaller in the hip area. So when it comes to Herve Leger, Dirndl Dress for me it’s really about A-line dresses because it gives me a hip but minimizes me on the top.”While there’s no doubt that Lubov and her husband, Max, design for women everywhere, you can’t help but imagine her stamping Halloween costumes a mini-claim on a certain white dress and capelet pair when it was in its early stages. It’s a look we can imagine every woman instantly coveting when it’s available in April.

Thanks for stopping by. It's always so nice to hear from you.
