That's us right dab in the center.

I'm trying to prepare for the unknown and that's not always easy.

But you know what?

Our God is so much bigger than this storm.

So for now we pray, prepare and wait.

Much to do...

Recovering Your Roman Shade DIY

Have a roman shade but fell out of love with it?

I did.

It just didn't match.

You may remember the before here below.

It was ok.

It was just khaki brown and didn't go well.

I didn't want to spend a bank to buy a new one so..

I took it down and brushed the 7 layers of dust off.

And you know what I found?

My dream fabric at Kmart!!!

It's a set of sheets but I can so work with that.

I cut a piece to fit on top of the existing shade.

I then turned the edge over and pinned it down.

I did not overlap to the back because I didn't want to mess with the pull string.

I then pleated over the original pleats and pinned them down.

After I had it all pinned, I sewed the edges on my machine.

I tacked down the pleats to help hold them in place.

I did not iron it and have no intentions on doing so...LOL.

The heat from the outside will do that for me  ;)

From the outside it looks like the real deal.

I overlapped the bottom edge.

Here is what the edges look like.

Not bad.

The picture shows more than the naked eye ;)

Ahhh so much better than the brown.

For those that are wondering, the shade still works.

I didn't mess with the back so the draw string still works just fine.

Now I have big plans for the other sheets.
Can't wait to share more!

New Orleans

This weekend my sister, niece and I headed for New Orleans.

It was one of those last minute quick trips.

My niece Brittany is newly engaged so we enjoyed a little bridal browsing too. sniff

Our first stop was of course Magazine street. It is lined with shops to quench any taste.

From there we headed to Jackson Square.

I'm sure many of you have heard of the St. Louis Cathedral.

It's the city's most recognizable landmarks.

St. Louis is the oldest continually operating cathedral in the US.

It dates back to 1850.  WOW

Can you just imagine what this Cathedral has endured?

It did weather Hurricane Katrina fairly well.

A bit of water damage but it stood strong. goosebumps

Mass was just ending and they allowed photos then.

Behind many of the tall narrow doors you will find secret gardens and courtyards.

I think this is one of my favorite things about this city.

Street entertainers help to keep the moods lifted even in the rain..

Ohhh the food!!!

We had to pass on Lucky Dogs though.

Too many great restaurants and cafes stole or attention.

Sorry Lucky!

Rain was not the only thing falling from the sky.

From the balcony bubbles drifted from bubble machines.

I don't care how old you are, bubbles are fun!

Even in the rain ;)

This store cracked me up!

We opted to view  from the outside.

It was full of HUGE cats. haha

As the evening started to darken the sky, the streets started to glow.

Gas lanterns...have mercy!

I love these.

In fact, I made sure I had one near my front porch when we built our house.

We made sure to keep fashion on the forefront Ha!

This guy...

He scared the beegeebee's out of me.

He stands there all day like a statue.

Waiting for poor unsuspecting souls like me to jump out on.

I really didn't like it but I'm a good sport.

I even gave to his fund and had my picture made. LOL

I'm not big fan of night life in New Orleans so this girl hit the hay early.

There is nothing like waking to Cafe' Du Monde just steps away from your hotel.

I made sure to pick up a box of these for my giveaway along with some other goodies.

This book just cracks me up!

Loving the blues~

How does our garden grow?

Humidity and lots of it. LOL

So much in fact that our powered sugar was a mess...

still laughing about that one Missy... ;)

My favorite porch/balcony has to be the Bienville House in the French Quarter.  love

Funny how just across the street is this building below.

That's how New Orleans rolls.

You have to overlook the bad to enjoy the beauty New Orleans holds.

I hope y'all enjoyed our little trip.

Thanks for joining me on Instagram and following along.

And the winner of the New Orleans goodies

Just for fun!

After spending hours in the hot Atlanta sun, we read over our check list.

We had seen about everything there was to see..

but one thing remained.

Kaylee and I are avid "Say Yes to the Dress" fans.

We can sit together all day and watch one after the other.

So when we found out we were just minutes away..

well you know..

Our intentions were to just take a few pictures of the building.

I think Kaylee must have snapped 100 pictures LOL

I on the other hand, was pretty impressed with their flowers.

So while we stood snapping pictures by the front door, it opened!

The sweetest lady working the front desk, insisted that we come in.

Well alrighty then..We did!!

She shared with us some fun facts about Lori's Bridal and we soaked it up!

She also insisted, with sweet southern charm, that we look around.

well alrighty then..so we did!

Every inch of that place was pure heaven.

It felt like a barbie dream house.

If I could have only bottled up Kay's excitement.

This girl was besides herself. HA!

As we awkwardly walked around trying to blend in..yeah right...

I tried to imagine what it will be like in a few years.

Kaylee starts her sophomore year in college tomorrow. sniff

I am in no rush..

But it was fun all the same.

We looked through dresses.

We laughed.

We giggled like silly girls.

We made memories!

And then...

We spotted her!

If you don't watch the show, she is the owner/star of the show.

"Say yes to the dress" Atlanta.

She didn't mind that we were just camera carrying tourist with no intent to purchase.

She graciously approached us and welcomed us to her boutique.

Of course we had to take pictures and she didn't mind a bit.

When the time comes..

I think we will take a trip back to Atlanta.

Maybe then, Kay can say yes to a dress...
