Memory Lane

We headed North to El Dorado, Arkansas on Friday.

It was Marc's 25th class reunion. did I just admit that?

Anywhoo...

We were on a crunch for time with no time for stopping.

I can't tell you how hard it was to pass sweet shops like these.

He promised we would stop on our way home Sunday. closed.

Guess I will be heading back up there soon. lovin' that scale!!!

Nothing says almost home like passing Chick-a-Dilly LOL

I fell in love with his hometown years ago.

The "Mayberry" like streets were lined with homes still dressed for the 4th.

Loved that!

New and old mixed so well together.

I can never get enough of vintage painted ads on brick walls.

Main street was buzzing with fans and yummy smells.

Maddy could not get over the phone booth LOL

From Main Street to his "old school" we took it all in.

It helps when your old school mate is now the President of the School Board.

He arranged a tour of the school grounds.

Oh the fun!

Oh the laughs!

After the tour, everyone hopped on the school bus.

We took a quick tour of the neighborhoods and how they had changed over the years.

Below is Marc's childhood home.

After our small road tour we stopped at their local park.

There they had BBQ waiting for us.

It was so much fun hearing all of Marc's childhood stories and meeting old friends.

I kid you not...

The sweet guy in the plaid had me rollin'.

He shared stories that involved run away boats, critters and UFO's....

only in Arkansas y'all!! LOL

After two days of reminiscing, we headed home.

Not to miss Marc's Alma Mater...

Louisiana Tech!

Marc had so much fun showing Maddy his old stompin' grounds

Who knows..

Maybe one day Maddy will be a Bull Dog Too.

For now, I'm hanging on to that sweet soon to be 7th grader as long as I can.

  3. Going back to your hometown is always fun. Looks like y'all had a good time.
Hope you get back to Arkansas soon to check out those stores....and yes, hang on to that sweet seventh grader. Cause as you know with your other two; time passes by way too fast. Then they are off to college. That's where I am right now. Son just graduated and off to cvollege.

  4. My mother was from Smackover. Twice a year we would visit and when we wanted to go shopping we always drove over to El Dorado. Haven't thought about that in years. Thank you!!

  5. I love reading your blog - so simple and fun! You can get that scale here http://www.farmhousewares.com/vintagestylescaleclock.aspx but I'm sure it's cheaper elsewhere!

  9. Such a small world! I found your blog a while ago through Kelly's Korner and I live in El Dorado- born and raised here and graduated from ElDorado High. It was neat to see my hometown through your eyes. Hope you enjoyed our downtown, it's quite a little gem:)

  10. Love me some La Tech!! I would LOVE my kids to go there. I mentioned that to my son right before he started high school. He was highly offended that I wanted him to move that far away from home. I told him it wouldn't really be that far b/c I would be happy to go with him! Haha!!
