Kaylee and her boyfriend invited us to his parents camp.
It just so happens to be near the stomping grounds and home of
"The Real Swamp people"
You may have heard of him Troy Landry
He shares his swamp here in Pierre Part with many other camps and homes.
Beautiful!
It took Heidi some getting use to the water...
Then it dawned on me...duh!
Gator bait!!!
I quickly snatched her from the pier and didn't put her down the entire weekend. LOl
Once you get accustomed to the "fishy smell" you just sit back and relax.
Pierre Part is just minutes away from home but feels like a different world.
The people are soooo laid back.
It took Maddy maybe ten minutes to get a pole in her hands.
This girl loves to fish!
Wes took us for a little tour of Belle River.
In love...I am!
I love our state.
Can you imagine living here on the water?
The river was lined with homes like this leading up to huge estates.
breathtaking..
I love how the families make their living here off the water.
Tradition and accents flow deep here.
And they know how to have fun too!
Louisiana living,
I don't think I would trade it for anything.
Much love, Susie
It's beautiful but somehow I have a pretty good feeling that I wouldn't be able to get past the fishy smell of the place...
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you held your pup!
Your Louisiana pride always make me smile, Susie!
ReplyDeleteMy husband talks about retiring to Arkansas or Louisiana.
It's just too far from the kids and now, grand kids!
Did you get my email about the "I love you like biscuits and gravy" sign?

ReplyDeleteI love Louisiana too!Troy is my favorite-I have been wanting to visit Pierre Part.It sure is beautiful there. Yep it is almost time for another visit.
ReplyDeleteI laughed out loud when you talked about your cute family member being gator bait! The tree's are beautiful, but I think I'd be too scared of the gators in the water to relax! LOL
ReplyDeleteLove this beautiful post. My hubbie and I spent a couple of days at a Cabin on Bayou Corne
ReplyDeletejust outside Pierre Part last February. I didn't want to leave!
We do have a lovely state, gators and all.
Carolyn
I'm glad you didn't mention the water moccasins or those famous cotton mouths. Louisiana is a beautiful state and has the best of everything (I'm a cajun girl deep down inside! Laissez le bons temps roule!
ReplyDeleteI love it too, even here in SW Louisiana where we're having a monster of a hot summer. Now we just have to do some Cajun Juju to keep the hurricanes away!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like an awesome place to go on vacation. Do they offer any charter boat services in this area. I would totally want to see the swamps around here.
