The sweet taste of summer!

This weekend was one of those weekends where you just didn't want it to end!

Friday after school, Maddy baked a cake for the church fair bake off.

She waited till early Saturday morning to add the finishing touches.

Fresh strawberries! YUM

Here is her finished cake ready for the fair....

While we waited for the judges to taste all of the cakes and pick the winners...

We watched Blaise (my nephew) and Brett (my brother in law) compete in a mini pot jambalaya cook off.

Oh my gosh they were smelling yummy!!

Here is Maddy at church with her cake.

And guess what??!!

She won 1st place in the junior division!

We were so proud of her!

Then it was time to announce the winners of the cook off..

Brett won 2nd and Blaise won 3rd!!!

Kaylee and I didn't bake.

We didn't cook.

What did we do?

Played good' ol church BINGO! LOL

Kaylee won once to the tune of 6.00 ...LOL.

I ate cake ;)

Much Love, Susie

  1. What fun!
She's beautiful and a great cook to boot! That cake looks SO good!

I hope you have a lovely week, my friend!

  2. What a fun post! Congratulations to your daughter. Her cake looks really, really good . . . creative too.

  3. Sounds like my kind of weekend!!

  4. Look like you had some great family bonding time this weekend. Congrats to Maddy on winning 1st place for her cake. Those strawberries look delicious. By golly, that young girl can ice a cake better than I can. : )
Those little pots for jumbalaya are cute. I love jumbalaya. Will be sad when we move away from Louisiana as I will probably have to have a friend send me the boxed mixes that we use to make it. We eat jumbalaya at least once a week.

  5. That is the cutest cake-glad she won. Wish I had some of thatjambalaya!

  6. “You can see the techniques of the knit on this style; Red Bandage Dress one day we will videotape the process of how our pieces are made. Herve Leger sale They weave the base and then hand-apply everything else. And our fit is really key. Oktoberfest Dress These pieces are more like sweaters than anything else—they’re not cut-and-sew, they’re knits—and that’s why they fit so well. People are so surprised at how well Herve Leger fits, and I tell them it’s all about how the dresses are constructed.”And finally, we dress for what we love too. For what we just can’t resist. Lubov, a former dancer, is a big fan of movement, so for her that signals the fringe-trimmed bandage dress.
