Our Get Away Weekend!

Where else can you watch 5 episodes of Pioneer Woman in a row?

At the Deer Camp of course.

My sister Missy and her husband own 65 acres in Mississippi.

They call it the "little house in the big woods"

Last night I spent 2 1/2 hrs in this deer stand.

(I think it needed a little paint inside and some heat would have been nice) Ha!

This was my view!

Heidi and I didn't see a thing.

That's OK though.

We didn't bring a gun, just our camera.

After my walk back, I was served Homemade chicken soup. YUM!

I won't tell you how many pieces I had...nope.

I mean...could you pass up 6 pieces of layered heaven?

We then watched the Saints :( and Miss America.

Woke to this..

Maddy and her friend Emily searched for phone service...ha!

After breakfast we took a little ride through the woods.

I think Heidi likes it about as much as I do!

Their property is next to a National Forest.

No worries about pesky neighbors ;)

Brett and Missy shared with us some of their big plans ahead.

This frame is soon to become a guest cottage.

Yay me!

This will be the front porch view.

I think Heidi likes it too!

I can't tell you how much I needed to get away.

Nothing like nature to calm your soul.

Thanks Missy and Brett!

xoxo Susie

  1. Ahhh I've been deer hunting before...years ago. Now I just watch them play in my backyard. LOVE that last photo.

  2. Sounds (and looks) lovely!

  3. God's Country always makes me feel refreshed.
I love King Cake...the zulu one, but can't seem to find it. Which is okay I guess because I just recently found out I need to be gluten free. Uggh.
So glad you had some "get away" time.

  4. Loooks like you had a GREAT time. :)

Who got the baby from the King Cake?? :)

  9. Beautiful view! I'm a country girl living in "the 'burbs", so I love it!

  10. Ah, I'm a deer stand sitter with camera (and a good book), too! Looks like an awesome weekend in a beautiful place... and with a LeBlanc's King Cake no less!! They're the BEST!

  11. So glad you got to get away! That places looks so relaxing! Wish y'all could have come just a few hours north... :)

  12. I spied a Seattle, Washington sweatshirt!

    I LOVE this post!
This place is magic! We're a "Cast & Blast" kind of family! My husband is a duck, goose, and upland bird hunter.

We rooted for the Saints! I'm sorry. We were on pins and needles until the end!

  13. What a lovely place. There is nothing like breathing the country air to clear the mind and cleanse the soul. I'm sure a weekend with Missy never hurt you either!

  14. What a wonderful getaway place!

  15. “Women really dress based on their body shape. For example, Black Bandage Dress I’m very athletic. I have bigger shoulders and bigger bust Herve Leger Dress and smaller in the hip area. So when it comes to Herve Leger, Dirndl Dress for me it’s really about A-line dresses because it gives me a hip but minimizes me on the top.”While there’s no doubt that Lubov and her husband, Max, design for women everywhere, you can’t help but imagine her stamping Halloween costumes a mini-claim on a certain white dress and capelet pair when it was in its early stages. It’s a look we can imagine every woman instantly coveting when it’s available in April.

Thanks for stopping by. It's always so nice to hear from you.
