My Son.

                                                                           My Son.

It still takes my breath away when I admit he's 20!

I was his age now when they placed him in my arms. yikes!

This evening he asked for a little "us" time.

I love that he still wants "us" time!

So he and I loaded in the ole' boat and headed into the backyard.

                                                                         He hunts.

                                                                         I watch.

He is pretty good at it too!

Sometimes you just have to get into their world to visit.

I don't mind getting muddy if it means a few good laughs.

A few moments of having him all to myself.

This duck will be smoked for Thanksgiving!

I know far too soon I will be replaced in his boat.

He has no idea that I have been praying for the wife he has yet to meet.

I pray that she will love him and honor him.

I pray that she likes to hunt too :)

This evening I enjoyed our time.

                                                             I'm thankful for my family.

"I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be food for you. And to the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground--everything that has the breath of life in it--I give every green plant for food. And it was so" (Genesis 1:29-30).

                                                                                    Thank you Lord.

What are you Thankful for today?

  1. Susie, I pray for the future wives of my boys too! I pray that they are godly women who know and love the Lord and who will love and respect my sons! This is a prayer that I've been lifting up for many years! And, hopefully, it's still way down the road!

I am thankful for my family, health, friends, and my Lord! He gives me my strength each day!!

Y'all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!! Love ya!

  2. Susie, that was such a sweet post. I know what you mean about taking advantage of thos times when our adult kids want to spendtime alone with us. I have a daughter that just turned 22 and we every once in awhile get mother daughter time just us...but it's rare nowadays since she has a serious boyfriend. So treasure those times...I know you do! I feel sorry for those ducks though. We use to raise baby ducks until they were big enough to be released to our backyard (the lake) otherwise turtles would eat them.YIKES!

  3. Ahhhh. One of my (three) sons and I just had a mother/son night tonight too. I also was just thinking, "Hmmm...Wonder how much longer I will be his 'go-to-girl'? Isn't it wonderful tho? I have worked hard to get these boys groomed for their future wives. They all know how to cook, do laundry and clean anything! They will be good husbands....because they love their mama! ha! Lori L

  4. What a sweet post and with a mom like you he is sure to find a good wife, he has a good example before him :) what a cutie he is!

  5. Your handsome son looks like such a sweet guy. I would love it if one of my children wanted to have alone time with me {although we do and they just don't know it!!}. The younger of my two sons just got engaged. He couldn't have picked a nicer girl. Sometimes these things just happen whether we plan, hope or pray...or maybe that IS why they happen!!

    Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  27. I enjoy your blog and I'm passing on an award to you!

  28. Susie- I've been praying for my girls' husbands since they were babies too. My oldest is almost 20 and she longs to meet her soulmate from God. Time and again, we've talked about His timing. I know at our kids' age it can be tough when the ones around them are beginning to meet their future spouses.

I loved your post and it touched me. You're truly blessed : )

  29. Hi Susie! Happy Thanksgiving! I loved your post and had to tell you how wonderful it is. How great you got to be with him. Boy is he handsome. My oldest got married 2 years ago and the girl is an answer to prayer. She is purehearted, totally sold out to God, very family oriented and more wonderful than I could have dreamed. God does answer a mother's prayer for her sons. You just wait girly...he will love her and so will you!! Hope your week is wonderful!

  30. Oh Susie, that is a wonderful post. I too have a son and he is 16 yrs. old. He hasn't dated yet but I know that day will come. We tell him that we hope he is blessed to have a happy marriage like his daddy and I.

  31. This is the most beautiful post!

  32. So sweet.. My oldest son is fastly approaching 14. We've only started the world of girls & I'm not even ready to think about his future wife. I can barely handle him dating.
