Enough.

ENOUGH.

enough.

Enough!

Funny how one word can mean so much. (or so little)

{e·nough (-nf)
adj.
sufficient to meet a need or satisfy a desire; adequate}

Last week our family shared many emotions together.
A death.
 An 18th birthday.
With the passing of both I'm left with questions.

Enough?

We search for it.
Some of us even possess it and don't even know it.

What is enough?

My mantel last year was enough. I thought.

Oh it was nice.
It met the definition of enough.

but...

when is enough enough?

Today!

Today I will ask myself two questions.

1. Will your "stuff" ever be enough?
2. Have you loved enough today?

So today I give you my mantel.

It's enough for me :)

I did add a crow on a pumpkin.

I'm going all out this year...ha!

So I may not be linky worthy this year

Nor may I be in the "who"

                                                                but you know what?

                                                                             That's ok with me.

I guess that's why I dont blog for money or fame. I blog because I love too....with no shame. :)

And that my precious friends is enough for me.
                                                               Susie~

  2. YAAAY!! Thank you so much! Sometimes we need to just do 'enough'- what is right for us right then, without any guilt of what will impress other people. It works for right now and what is needed. I'm so glad you posted this.

  4. Your simple but poignant post made me get a lump in my throat. My heart goes out to you on your loss last week. And an 18th birthday, while happy and joyous, always carries with it a twinge of sadness. I, too, am going to think about your questions today. All the best to you as you start your week.

  18. Great post, Susie! My thoughts, exactly. I am getting over whelmed looking at the fall decor out there. It seems the more the better. I don't have the time, budget or desire to decorate every corner of my home for fall. Hurray for you! I love your mantel!

  25. Thank you for this! I'm starting to see a trend in some of the blogs I read and I'm so glad to see that things are getting to be simple again. I've always been about simplicity and "less is more". I have never understood the need to over-decorate something. I love the simplicity and beauty of your Fall mantel. It's lovely, and absolutely enough!
Also, I am sorry to hear of your loss.

  26. Susie,
Love this post...and you are a poet too. : )

I have been paring down "things" in my home too and am only putting things on display that I love. That being family pictures and God's word.

I love the simplicity of your mantel.

  29. Susie- I think it is perfect. 2 years ago I started paring down my possessions (think home decor and projects and supplies) and I am almost there. I felt like my stuff had overtaken my life. My renovated house is not all white- which is really "in" cause I live with teenage girls who use RED nail polish and I have a BLACK Lab in the house. I only kept things that I loved- and so when people come in and say "I love it!" , I know they get me. There is no shame in apologizing for being yourself.

And I don't read your blog cause you're famous- I read it cause I love your ideas and how you are real.

  30. Seems as though our hearts are in the same place. You are enough, because you are called to such a time as this for this purpose, what ever it is at the moment. I am blessed by you always,
Thank You for being my friend and encourager.

  34. I luv it! It's important that you know when enough is enough, right! I've seen many resign from blogging due to their competitive nature, I'd hate to see you go, so if keeping it light is what you need. I got your back! Take care.

  38. Sometimes......."Less is more" my friend. Except when it comes to "souls." People are different than "things" and things will all rot away one day.
I think you've gotten that concept all figured out.
We just went through this too. The death part, not the birthday part.
    :~)Hang in there...Joyce

  39. Susie, your mantel is really simple and elegant and it's true that sometimes enough is all we need. Great post.
I also loved your post about swamp people..It's hard to find a place around here that doesn't have a swamp leading somewhere. But the visions that people seem to think is us, is totally wrong. We don't go out hunting all the time for wild animals to feast on. When my daughter moved to California, they called her a swamp rat, just in teasing though. I missed that show, but I love watching LPB and learning so much about our state that I didn't know. Great post always. Love and hugs, Pat
