Funny how one word can mean so much. (or so little)

{e·nough (-nf)
sufficient to meet a need or satisfy a desire; adequate}

Last week our family shared many emotions together.
A death.
 An 18th birthday.
With the passing of both I'm left with questions.

We search for it.
Some of us even possess it and don't even know it.

What is enough?

My mantel last year was enough. I thought.

Oh it was nice.
It met the definition of enough.

when is enough enough?

Today I will ask myself two questions.

1. Will your "stuff" ever be enough?
2. Have you loved enough today?

So today I give you my mantel.

It's enough for me :)

I did add a crow on a pumpkin.

I'm going all out this year...ha!

So I may not be linky worthy this year

Nor may I be in the "who"

                                                                but you know what?

                                                                             That's ok with me.

I guess that's why I dont blog for money or fame. I blog because I love too....with no shame. :)

And that my precious friends is enough for me.

  1. Love it! I just have pictures of my kids and never really change it. It's enough for me!

  2. YAAAY!! Thank you so much! Sometimes we need to just do 'enough'- what is right for us right then, without any guilt of what will impress other people. It works for right now and what is needed. I'm so glad you posted this.

  3. I love the simple look with touches of color, especially the orange.

  4. Your simple but poignant post made me get a lump in my throat. My heart goes out to you on your loss last week. And an 18th birthday, while happy and joyous, always carries with it a twinge of sadness. I, too, am going to think about your questions today. All the best to you as you start your week.

  5. I hope that you feel peace and comfort in your grief

  6. Ms. Susie, I'm so sorry for you loss. I'll send up a prayer for you and your family.

    You mantel... it's just enough.
    ; )

  7. This is gorgeous! And, your thoughts about "enough"--Amen, sister!!

  8. Susie,
I applaud you. And I admire you. And I want to hug you.
p.s. so sorry for your families loss. may His comfort be yours today!

  9. Good for you!! I like it! It is the right enough!

I am so sorry for you loss as well. I hope the He can answer some of your questions in time.

  10. Not much to say except love the post today.

  11. You know how I feel about "enough." :) Love this post!

  12. Very well said!!
I am forever having to decide that what I can do, is enough!

  13. Great post and as far as linky...oh yeah it is enough for a linky spot. I love your mantle!

    So sorry for your lost!

  14. Susie, you and your sweet little blog will always be "enough" for me. :) HUGS.

  15. You go, girl. Thanks for the example and reminder...

  16. It looks great. The simplicity is perfect. I'm glad you've found your enough. It's hard to be content sometimes, but thank you for the reminder of the importance of just accepting and embracing what we have.

  17. I think it looks beautiful...sometimes less is more :)

  18. Great post, Susie! My thoughts, exactly. I am getting over whelmed looking at the fall decor out there. It seems the more the better. I don't have the time, budget or desire to decorate every corner of my home for fall. Hurray for you! I love your mantel!

  19. You are very wise! We are so blessed as Americans, and yet, we want more and more and more...

Have a great day~and, by the way, I love your mantel!

  20. I love this post. I'm so sorry for your loss.

  21. Contentment is an awesome thing :)

  22. I love the honesty of this post. It is so refreshing and uplifting. I send prayers for your loss and praise for the birthday celebration. You are one of my favorite bloggers.

  23. God bless you for this, Susie. I mean enormous blessings, shaken down, running over--way more than enough. Thank you, thank you.

  24. Very well said my friend. Your blog and your mantel are perfect for me!

  25. Couldn't have said it better Susie!

  26. Thank you for this! I'm starting to see a trend in some of the blogs I read and I'm so glad to see that things are getting to be simple again. I've always been about simplicity and "less is more". I have never understood the need to over-decorate something. I love the simplicity and beauty of your Fall mantel. It's lovely, and absolutely enough!
Also, I am sorry to hear of your loss.

  27. Susie,
Love this post...and you are a poet too. : )

I have been paring down "things" in my home too and am only putting things on display that I love. That being family pictures and God's word.

  28. truly sorry for your loss.

i love your matel and as i was just thinking yesterday that i didn't feel up to filling up my mantel space, you have inspired me to keep it simple. :)

    have a creative day,

  29. It's enough for me too, Susie! I blog because I enjoy, not for money or fame. Guess you already knew that though.:-)

I love the simplicity of your mantel.

  30. Susie- I think it is perfect. 2 years ago I started paring down my possessions (think home decor and projects and supplies) and I am almost there. I felt like my stuff had overtaken my life. My renovated house is not all white- which is really "in" cause I live with teenage girls who use RED nail polish and I have a BLACK Lab in the house. I only kept things that I loved- and so when people come in and say "I love it!" , I know they get me. There is no shame in apologizing for being yourself.

And I don't read your blog cause you're famous- I read it cause I love your ideas and how you are real.

  31. Seems as though our hearts are in the same place. You are enough, because you are called to such a time as this for this purpose, what ever it is at the moment. I am blessed by you always,
Thank You for being my friend and encourager.

    Cha Cha

  32. I have put a lot of thought into this lately, and I am discovering, it takes very little to be "enough". I am working towards a much simpler "enough". Thanks for sharing. Jackie

  33. I wanted to thank you for this post, I think your mantel is simple gorgeous and yes, it is enough.

  34. Great attitude! Good for you!

  35. I luv it! It's important that you know when enough is enough, right! I've seen many resign from blogging due to their competitive nature, I'd hate to see you go, so if keeping it light is what you need. I got your back! Take care.

  36. I'm in LOVE with your simple and PRETTY pared down decor! I love it!

  37. My friend, I think you could pull off just about anything. Your enough is simply lovely.

  38. Whatever you feel and love is always enough. Thanks for sharing.

  39. Sometimes......."Less is more" my friend. Except when it comes to "souls." People are different than "things" and things will all rot away one day.
I think you've gotten that concept all figured out.
We just went through this too. The death part, not the birthday part.
    :~)Hang in there...Joyce

  40. Susie, your mantel is really simple and elegant and it's true that sometimes enough is all we need. Great post.
I also loved your post about swamp people..It's hard to find a place around here that doesn't have a swamp leading somewhere. But the visions that people seem to think is us, is totally wrong. We don't go out hunting all the time for wild animals to feast on. When my daughter moved to California, they called her a swamp rat, just in teasing though. I missed that show, but I love watching LPB and learning so much about our state that I didn't know. Great post always. Love and hugs, Pat

  41. Susie, Lovely post! Hugs, Cindy

  42. I must tell you that I am a recent new follower and total junky for your blog!
    I love it all!
This is a wonderful post because I too have these feelings and often wonder...I am alone!
I love this simple yet very elegant mantle you did for Fall!
    Have a blessed evening!

  43. Sorry that your family has experienced a loss. :( Thinking of you. Miss you. HUGS. P.S. I should email you. I have a few decorating dilemmas that are driving me nuts. SO SILLY, I know.

  44. Love this, Susie! (And the mantel! : ) )

  45. Thank you Susie for this wonderful post! I am planning on posting about my mantle tomorrow and am linking to this affirmative post!!

  46. It is enough! How many pumpkins do we need anyway........you know what they say...keep it simple!

  47. This is wonderful! I was so inspired I gave you a shout-out on my blog - www.karenwatson.wordpress.com
Thanks for the daily (or weekly) inspiration. It is more than enough and delights me every time!

  48. Enough is simply perfect, as is your reason for blogging!
