Our adventures in cupcake tower making began with one very eager
"almost 10 year old"
I sketched a few drawings on freezer paper.
Love that stuff!
I started out with three circles
10" 14" 18"
Madison traced.
(check out that wild summer hair)!
I then cut some pedestal's and painted them in a white gloss.
I didn't worry too much about the edges because we will cover them up.
You can glue your ribbon with a hot glue gun but we learned very fast fabric glue worked best.
(the heat of the glue gun tends to warp the ribbon)
I think double stick tape would have worked best....
My mind started going in every direction.
1. Thanksgiving ribbon
2.Christmas ribbon
3 Cute Easter pastel ribbons
I think this cupcake tower will become a big part of our family traditions from now on :)
Then...
I found a hat box from Hobby Lobby that matched perfect!
Happy dance here..
This is what we have so far....
You can put so many twist to this idea.
I can't wait for special occasions now just so I can bring this baby out :)
Madsion is really starting to get excited about her party.
I am too!
This week will be full of planning..
hope you join us!
Susie & Madison

Fabulous, I can't wait to see what comes next. Happy creating!

ReplyDeleteWow! What a great DIY project. I already have a cupcake tower for my daughter's upcoming birthday party, but I am trying to get into party planning and this will be so helpful in the future, I am sure. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHi there, Dear Susieness! Oh, how inventive and creative you are! This is great and you sure do know your way around a jig saw!! Love the ribbon you've used (looks a lot like what I used on my post today). What a cute little assistant you have!
ReplyDeleteYou just amaze me with all the things you come up with.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
That turned out adorable! Great job ladies!
ReplyDeleteThat is one of the most ingenious ideas I have ever seen - especially if you made your own pattern!! Very nice.
ReplyDeleteOh my! How awesome! And it will take just the right amount of cupcakes to fill it...enough for everyone at the party and maybe some left over:) Hope ya'll have fun!
ReplyDeleteThis is just fabulous!! Yay to you and Madison, what a team:) I love it. Hope you both have a lovely day ~ Tina x
ReplyDeleteOh, Susie, it's so much fun watching what you're doing with your baby girl. Oops, I'm sorry, your nearly-ten-year-old girl. She was a beauty at age five and now she's a beauty at 10! Just like her mom. :)

How cute, it is gonna be the party of the year. Glad I am invited!
ReplyDeleteMy hair looked just like Maddies in the summer...and I loved it rat nests and all!
Perhaps my absolutely favorite part is that you did it with your daughter! And . . . it turned out fabulous.

Susie, that is one beautiful cake tower. I can picture it with a cake on top with lots of pretty cupcakes and petite fours on the other layers. You are so talented with the saw. Wish I were brave enough to try it, but that's one tool, I'm not allowed to touch. Hugs, Pat
ReplyDeleteAre y'all getting lots of rain? I know we are and I think we are finally going to have a few dry days.
Susie
ReplyDeleteThat is so adorable. Great job and I am sure your daughter is thrilled!

ReplyDeleteOh, and I know what you mean about the wild summer hair! Lexi's also has stripes of green through it from the pool. I need to get rid of those green stripes since she has started play practice again!
