Some of you may remember my green hall bath. You may have seen my post on it here. Well it was green. Sassy green and I liked it but didnt love it like I do now.
I wanted this room to feel new...fresh...clean...simple...while staying on a string budget. I didnt even stress about the color this go'round. I just stopped in for a visit with my friendly Wal Mart paint guy. I looked for a color that soothed my senses and found it. Spectrum White!
It's not really a white although my kids say so. It is at the top of the gray paint strip. You have to be careful when picking a gray. You can end up with pink/gray or green/gray or the lovely blue/gray. I just wanted a plain gray/gray in a very light shade and this color was just that.
This room just grew two sizes!
I have a few ideas that will give this room a classic clean look for very little money.
If you have a look that you want to try in your home but not sure if you can pull it off or have the money to back it...start off in the smallest room in your house...if you love the look....it may just spread all over the house!
Fresh indeed! I can't wait to see what you come up with!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great color. It looks amazing on your walls, great change!
ReplyDelete~Michelle
Chrissy, at Apothecary shop did this- I think you might get some inspiration from her....
ReplyDeleteSusie, it looks so fresh and open. Amazing how the lighter colors do that huh. I loved the green as well though too. Can't wait to see what you do with it.
ReplyDeleteVery fresh! can't wait to see how you decorate it!!
ReplyDeleteWow - that really opens it up - it looks fantastic. Let us know what the color name was!
ReplyDeleteOh, I know all about how hard it is to choose just the right gray/gray and have three blue/gray rooms to prove it. I love your pale, nearly white shade of gray. Can't wait to see the rest of the plan.
ReplyDeleteLove the color! Can't wait to see what you do!
ReplyDeleteHugs to you,
~Victoria~
gorgeous.
ReplyDeletemy middle name is grey...well..along with my hair color..
xo
Love it, Miss Susie!! I'd love to find/read about some ideas for decorating with/around grey. :)
ReplyDeleteI think it would be a nice change in our masterbedroom...which is currently an old off-whitey beige. We haven't ever painted it. (blushing)
Which brand at WM was your lovely Spectrum White? I want to make a note of it so I don't end up with pink or green-grey. :)
Ah, much better! Can't wait to see the rest!
ReplyDeleteLove it! Can't wait to see what you do with the rest of it! ~mary~
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about Greys. I have a "grey" bathroom that is baby blue, a "grey" kitchen/living room that was blue enough to have caused a fight between my husband and I and a dark "grey" exterior that people are calling blue. My next house I will be ruthless about a neutral grey.
ReplyDeleteLooks lovely & I'm all for a new paint color.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend.
I have a very similar bathroom floorplan. Mine needs a bit of updating, as well. Can't wait to see your finished results.
ReplyDeleteI always love how great a freshly painted room feels and looks. But for me once a paint one room I have to paint them all.
ReplyDeleteOh you are readying my mind. I woke up today thinking that my bedroom needs new paint...nothing else...just a cleaner, brighter color (it is a deep wine currently)...inspiration you are!
ReplyDeleteI just love gray....even the white variety ;-) Can't wait to see your finished bath!
ReplyDeleteMuchhhh better! My hall bath had exactly the same experience a few months ago. Now I will never paint another bathroom green...can't wait to see it finished! :-)
ReplyDeleteIn love ..thanks! lol I have a ? can you tell me how to make the stencils for your fonts on your signs? do you get them off the computer or how? if you have already done a post on it could you guide me to which one..I have a new project I want to do and I thought of you and your wonderful signs!
ReplyDeleteThis looks wonderful and it DOES look BIGGER! Can't wait to see what you do with this wonderful canvas you have created!!
ReplyDeleteLou Cinda
Girl I love the new color...looks clean can't wait to see what else you come up with...hugs and smiles Gl♥ria
ReplyDeleteO, Susie..I love it. White or close to white walls have always been my very favorite. I venture off every now and then to another color...but always come back to classic white. I love the light, the power to make a room grow overnight, the ease of decorating it...I just love it all....
ReplyDeleteI know you will make this bath so so cute..can't wait to see if I can copy it!! haha..
xo bj
This is exactly the color we are planning to use in our master bath! I can't wait to see how you decorate it!
ReplyDeletethe best thing about that is the next time you want to change accessories you don't have to paint! I REALLY need to paint our downstairs bathroom, needs new floor too. But I have been worried about matching the stuff in there. I guess if it was white, I wouldn't need to worry!
ReplyDeleteLooks great so far. I can't wait to see what else you do. We REALLY need to re-do our small guest bathroom but first need to rip down all the wallpaper....NOT a job I look forward to! Hope you all are staying warm.♥
ReplyDeleteAwww... LOVE that color!! Makes me want to go paint:)
ReplyDelete~Whitney
Me likey!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you do!
Layla
very nice and bright. I have been thinking about painting my 1/2 bath a light grey - it is currently a green. Seeing your pictures really makes me want to do it more.
ReplyDeleteIt looks so fresh and clean. What a difference. I can't wait to see how it all turns out.
ReplyDeleteI must say, I'm kind of sad to see the Green go, since it is my favorite color. But I have to agree, at this time of year I just love that fresh clean look. Can't wait to see how you make it all pop. It will be a perfect backdrop for some fantastic WOW accessories...I'll be watching.
ReplyDeleteThe new color brings an entirely different feel to your bath. I think it's going to turn out lovely.
ReplyDeleteBe sure and show us.
Looking forward to seeing what you add back to it!!!
ReplyDelete:)
Good morning Susie, yes, I think your bathroom looks much prettier now.
ReplyDeleteHope this year you have the time to drop by my blog.
Cariños,
Maria Cecilia
Hi Susie!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! I am sure you have talked to your Mom but we have been in for a week now with snow and FRIGID temps! Looking forward to next week's heat wave....at least in the 30's!!!
I love your spirit and the joy that comes from your blog!
I am wanting to paint my kitchen cabinets from natural maple to white but I don't have the nerve. They are expensive, custom cabinets and I'm scared. But I think it would look great. Any advice?
Love the color, I have been thinking about painting my bathroom, and you may have just inspired me to get going. How many coats did it take to cover the green?
ReplyDeleteCheryl
Thanks for the visit and the "info," Susie. :) Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteHi Susie! Thanks so much for your comment! Um, I LOVE your blog! I'm going to spend wayyy too much time going through it now. Love your style!
ReplyDeleteAre you going to be coming to the CBC conference?? I hope so! I'd love to meet you!
Susie, just FYI we are in the process of lightening our Masterbed room from the deep wine to a lovely, light clean creme....yum! You inspired me and the cold weather worked in my favor because my dear, dear husband just jumped on the idea!!!! Yipppeeee!!!!
ReplyDeleteSusie, thanks for stopping by my blog and answering my question. I have to update my blog soon. I have to paint the kids bathroom, the only thing I dislike about painting is cutting in, maybe I can do the ceiling the same color
ReplyDeleteBlessings~Cheryl
I have 13 rooms that need makeovers...and that includes the front porch! :D
ReplyDeleteMy first project will be my bathroom...it already has wallpaper torn off in some sections when I got a wild hair one night and decided to rip it off. Then something sparkly caught my attention and I got distracted...haven't been back at it since. Ugh. I want to try Rhoda's mirror re-do in there, too.
Love the simplicity of your new bathroom! : )
thank you for your sweet comment miss susie!!!
ReplyDeletei am quite sad that the fleur de lis is gone from the bathroom...but i can ONLY imagine what you will come up with!!! i cannot wait for an update!!
keep warm!
I just painted our guest bedroom and I picked out an olive green and didn't like it. I just used the tan that I had here at home and it is okay but it won't stay that for long. I have a 1/2 bath downstairs that is builder paint color and that is my next painting job. I haven't decided on the color but I am leaning towards gray. I can't wait to see what you do to finish off the bath with your accessories.
ReplyDelete~WOW! It really looks different. Fresh, clean and bigger just like you were after. I can't wait to see the rest of it!
ReplyDeleteLovely job Susie! :)
Love it! My main bath is just a shade off of white and I love it! It is clean, crisp and I love that I can change my accessories with the seasons or holidays and have a whole new bathroom each time! Of course, I love to keep an eye on clearance shelves for that! Looking forward to seeing what you are going to do! Thanks for sharing! Mari
ReplyDeleteI'm really considering re-doing our main bathroom... but I feel like if I change one thing, everything will change, and then I'll spend a TON of money... can't wait to see what else you do... maybe it will be inspiration I need!
ReplyDeleteHi Susie.
ReplyDeleteYour bathroom looks so nice!
The simple clean color is pretty.
:o) Trish
Looks so fresh and clean!
ReplyDeleteWhite definitely looks better. Get a nice picture of wildlife in winter - its slightest hint of color adds cheer without defeating the spaciousness that white brings.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful~
ReplyDelete{{Big Hugs}}
Cathy
That IS a great color...
ReplyDeleteWhat a great color. It looks amazing on your walls, great change!
