Show n tell and two freebies...

I had to take a break from crafting and getting ready for the show. What did I do? Make these... Not sure what you call it but I like it all the same. How about you?

I even tried my hand at a bee. Or does it look like a scary insect,No?

Y'all can so make these cause they are so much fun! just cut a 12x12 piece of thin board and staple some fabric. I printed the 5 off the computer and traced away then painted!

You know I had to play around and move it a gazillon times. Wont fit here..may need to make smaller so it can fit. Love it here!

Maybe on the wall..

Sittin' on a shelf?

Family asked why 5? Cause there are 5 of us...and cause I like the way 5 looks~

Moving on into the bath...

Hmmmm....not sure on this one. Maybe a different picture?

Ahhhh...like it here! Would you like one too? You know how I love to share so just leave me a peep and I will pick a name. Give me a hint of a picture or a number if you would like...you just never know~
Also... my sister Missy over at southernqueenbee.blogspot.com is giving away a pair of crocs if you are interested in a pair~

Day dreamin'

A week has passed and I wish I was shopping all that time. Instead I was tending to my sons dog Alley. I told the kids not to bring another breathing thing into this house. Did he listen? Nope.... Have I fallen in love with her? Yep, Deeply..darn it!

It's time like these when you need to just open your windows...

Dream about your ribbon...

Give thanks to the Lord...my flowers are blooming!

Dream about sitting next to my sweetie on this while he is boiling crawfish....Oh sweet heavenly day!

My ferns are growing everywhere....I would bring these inside and decorate with them if I could... they delight me!

Im still running around here crazy getting ready for my show on Saturday. Sweetie and I will leave a day early so we can have a good excuse to sleep in a hotel...smile~ While all of this craziness surrounds me I will remember to leave a window open so I can listen to Momma birds song....music to my ears.

Road Trip...

Hey girls! Grab your bag and put on your cutest pair of shoes cause Im taking y'all shopping!

Every year on March 20th {first day of spring} my sister and I save the date. It is the day our little brother was born. He would have been 30 this year but due to an accident seven years ago he went home with our Lord. We use this day to celebrate his life and to laugh and giggle about our fun times. We use this day to thank him for the lives he saved due to his organ donation. We use this day to love on each other. We use this day to SHOP! So if you girls want to help us celebrate life.....let's go!
This is Perkins Rowe in Baton Rouge. Oh a girl can get into some trouble here. We know ;)

We had lunch here.

The weather was perfect! Spring did come ....

Check out this chandie!

This has got to be my favorite shop...you will see why~

A bit of blue n brown love shown here.

Be still my heart... I want you..I need you...I will be back for you!

Blue n white delight...

Orange? Not sure if I loved it till now. Yes! I do love this color...

Thank you for coming along....

I have a show in two weeks so I will be busy painting my little heart out and watching my house turn from home to studio de' messy! I must take pictures so I can show yall how crazy it gets here before a show. It gets ugly here people...oh the mess...oh the craziness....oh the love~

Wanna look see...

I thought I would just show yall what we have done so far. Once again, this is Jesse using a miter saw. Maybe I should show him this just in case he has forgotten how it works!

If you look a bit closer maybe you can get the just of how it cuts angles.

I measured and cut out a poster board the size I wanted my box to be. We go through a lot of poster boards around here.

Just a look see before we painted.

Yep! Heres that kid again looking thrilled. Right~

And wha'la..its done..well almost. Still another wall to go but I didnt want to keep yall waiting forever.

Once you paint it makes the whole wall just pop. It really looks like wood molding!

I thought the corners would give us heck but Jesse put his math skills to work and impressed me!

I just sat back and watched..I only put my two cents in every now and then.

So this is where we stopped. We still have one more small wall to complete, sigh.

So here is the completed side now follow me to my backdoor I have something else to show yall!

Check this out. It's that neat beadboard panel that you can buy at your home improvement stores. I wanted a more casual look for my backdoor and I love it!

I must admit, this was a bit easier to do than the molding. You just measure and cut and glue it up there. I used liquid nails and a few tiny nails here and there. I also used caulking....lots of caulking...tons of caulking! Im working on curtains now for my kitchen. So just how much can I get out of one panel....you'll see!

Birds of a feather shop together....

I know most of you have seen this shower curtain. A few of my friends shared their very pretty bathrooms. Thanks Joanna! One was lucky enough to get it on clearance for just a few dollars. I knew I just had to find one...not! Not a sweet bird shower curtain in sight at our Target. I checked online to find nothing even close to this sweetie. Once again I am coming to my friends...Can you help this sister out. Now please don't make a special trip or anything but if you should just happen to be in the right Target at the right time and spot one of these babies... Please O' Please scoop it up and I will send you the cash...maybe even a kid or two. Nah! Just kiddin' about the kids. My sweet friend over at Rambling Girl {opps} It's Rambling Gal is looking for one as well. Nothing like having friends shop with you....wish we could all have a big field trip!

About that dance.....

After a very tough morning {mourning} on Friday we put on our best and pulled ourselves together. Our beloved fur baby was hit by a car very early Friday. I still cant really talk about it yet ..but I will one day. We were there for each other and we made it through the day and into the night..

We watched how fast our kids had grown and felt blessed..

We watched how we can love on one another and be there in times of need without anyone ever knowing how our hearts were broken..

We witnessed love....

Some of us even dreamed about it...

We held hands...and loved deeper...Boy! I love that man~

We had a good time....

AND THEN.... he did it! What I had wished for all evening. He asked me to dance!

After all of these years he still gets to me...

I wont tell you how much I enjoyed that dance because I think my face says it all,No?

After a day and night filled full of emotion and love, We woke...and what better way to start our day... we ate wedding cake!

Wish list and maybe a dance {if Im lucky}!

This wall is so patiently waiting for...

This! Why is it just leaning up against the wall? Well, because one son has decided that it is more fun to hang out with friends then to help his mother do home improvements. Go figure! I tell ya, what has this world and teenagers come to. He did want to travel to Amy's house though, to help her out in a Jiffy. She has four beautiful daughters...now just how can a Mom compete with that! Guess I better learn to use that miter saw on my own.

Now here is where I need some real help. I'm looking for this jewel.

Is it not just the prettiest thing ever. I have looked hi and low to find it and I need yall's help. If anyone has seen this in a store near you..please tell. I would be forever grateful~

Speaking of pretty..does this room make you feel all fuzzy inside. Well, OK maybe not fuzzy but I sure do love it. What is it about those blues and browns that just make you relax. I kind of thought they would go out of style by now {because I'm trying to add a bit here and there} but nope.. I hope they are here to stay for a while.
I'm all excited about tonight because I get to dress up all fancy and see my husband in a suit {if it still fits}. Nothing is better than seeing your man in a suit! You know what I'm talking about ladies.{blush..blush}! Secretly...between you and me..I'm so hoping he asks me to dance~ I will let yall know how the night goes. Wish me luck! PS.. I really don't like to dance but to just be close and smelling his cologne is so worth it. See ya gals!

Child labor...the kind that doesnt hurt~

This is Jesse. He is my son. My first born at that. I saw Miss Rhoda making her walls beautiful and she showed us how! Thanks Miss Rhoda! Now you have had my little head a spinnin'....

See this little plastic box Jesse is working with? Its called a miter saw. The best lil piece of plastic you can get your hands on if you dont have the fancy saws...{which we dont}. So Jesse and I have been busy cutting...and sawing..and messing up..and buying extra, hehe. Its not that hard really. I will show yall more as soon as I can force my childhood labor on him...Till then if you want to see some pretty walls done right, Go here~

Raindrops...one by one...

Hi there! My name is Susie for those of you who don't know me. I'm the one on the left. My sister is the one on the right. She is my best friend.

This is just a drop of rain, right? It cant cause many problems standing alone.

When you add to that drop of water the lil leaf starts to get heavy and falls down.

This ocean is but many many lil raindrops added together. Where am I going with this? My feelings were hurt to no ones fault but my own. Many people jumped in on the drama and added to it. Many people assumed a lot and added to it. Thank you for your sweet comments and friendship but lets move on and not hurt one another. Together we can build each one of us up leaving no one out. Like one commenter stated..my daughters are watching and your right! If we are but just a raindrop lets stand together...use our voices to be a mighty force of good. I'm sorry that my hurt feelings may have been overblown and hurt others. Some big blogs are doing just what the rest of us are doing... trying to make it in our own way. Our blogs are just that...ours to do with what we please. I have taken these last few hours and prayed about them like there was no tomorrow! From now on when my feelings get hurt or stepped on I will take them to the one that can make all things better... not blogland. So with that being said... lets play nice..be friends.. and not flood one another.hehe... I thought about and did make my blog private for a small while.
EDIT***** {My husband was the sweet one that explained to me that this was mine and I should not hide... I did nothing wrong. I do have a little favor to ask. Please lets not leave any ugly comments because I have paid dearly for them ... trust me. Lets keep names out and move on..} Love all of y'all~ Susie
ps... next post is on decorating, smiles~

Small room with big style....

This room is small I tell ya. It should be an office but you just cant mix an 8yr. old with a 16yr... Not gonna happen!
Most people would say you just cant go dark in a small space or you shouldn't do this or that... well ladies. I broke all the rules and it was so much fun! I wanted to wait until the room was "done" and {just right} but that will never happen so enjoy!

I will try and answer some of the questions that yall had.. It's this big and the wall color is Oiled Teak 96173. It's Color-Place...good ole' WalMart! For the {Madison} I used left over trim from my base boards and the pink was just craft paint. I would recommend using a gloss to give it a shine~

Did yall spot that chandi as you came in?

It's just like her big sisters. It's made of wood and is just too cute. Im thinking about making a pattern and offering it to yall if you would like....easy!

You would think it would be easy to take a good picture of such a small space but not really. Madison has hounded us for years for a bunkbed. I hate them and held her off as long as I could. I mean she had such a cute bed before this, ugh!

I gave in and used it to my advantage. We wont tell her that though, smile. Because of the limited floor space she had a hard time leaving her toys out. My solution on that fix...

We left the mattress out and put a sheet of plywood instead and covered it with a foam mattress. Then topped it off with a cute sheet...there you go!

A play loft! Now she can let her imagination run wild and momma wont clean it up.

I believe a child should play and dream and grow and what better way to get your design skills on! You go girl....talk about a window treatment~

We have yet to find the perfect spread in the perfect shade of pink. No worries though because this fuzzy warm blanket fits her just fine for now and allows me to save for a new one.

I love how her white trim just pops now.

For her curtains we went out all fancy...one flat sheet! Take that sheet, cut her down the middle and sew a seam up each side....no one will ever know!

I will add some fancy trim here and there but for now she's still a work in progress

I must be honest here and show yall the inside of her window...it's pink. Not because I thought it would look cute to do {and it does} I just got lazy painting so there ya have it.... one small room still {always} under construction.
{I hope yall check back Monday because I have few things to share with all of you. Some things you may be interested in and the reason why some great things must come to an end...for now. So hope you can make it back here on Monday so I can spill the beans.....Dont worry,Im not going anywhere, smile~

Heavy Hearts....

{update...today is not his birthday...its just cause I love him but thanks ,hehe}
Is this just the cutest baby! Yeah, I know he's mine and I'm a bit proud BUT... This was just minutes after we brought him home. What we didn't know was...

This chubby bundle that was born two weeks late was chubby for all the wrong reasons. That next day we ended up back in the hospital with a ton of unanswered questions. Why Lord? Why this baby? He was born with two holes in his heart. A heart defect known as VSD. The road ahead was so scary and so uncertain and still is at times.

What we do know now is ...He is eighteen and one strong cookie! Many prayers have been said over this precious child of mine. One hole has closed but the largest hole remains stubborn and is a constant reminder how we cherish life. The Dr.s are optimistic and watch him and his resilient heart. We are not sure what the future holds for him. Will he need surgery as an adult? We just take everyday as a gift and are so glad that he is healthy and strong and stubborn and kindhearted and here with us. I'm grateful.
Why post this today?

I just found this sweet family and it has brought me to tears. I'm so glad Jesse was strong enough to never need all of this to survive. If you can see past all of the machines and gadgets ,there is one tiny life there. Her name is Gracie.

She was born with a heart defect and received a new heart just days ago. What should have been a long awaited joyful event turned out to be her last days. Sweet Gracie went home to be with her Lord but left behind all of her strong organs for other sweet babies. God Bless Her... and her precious family. I hope today you take the chance to hug someone you love and tell them. I know I did~

Easy as ABC...

I'm so glad that y'all wanted to know because I so wanted to tell ya! I drew the letter M on a piece of poster board and cut it out.

You can use either stencil. I used the one with the cut out so I could also use the circle.

Now before you get all nervous about painting on your wall just remember.....if you mess up you can always paint over it. Madison even helped out.

After I drew my M and circle I measured around the outer perimeter to get my lines {almost} straight.

No perfect lines here but who's looking close? Did you just zoom in on that picture, hehe

For Madison's name I found a font that I liked and tweeked the M till I thought it was perfect. I then printed it out and taped it in place.

I just pressed down lightly and made a very small indention so I could go back and trace the lines.

I pretty much did the same thing with the swirls on the bottom. I drew the swirl out on the poster board and taped it up where I wanted the swirls to be...

To make the other side even I just flipped it over and repeated the same process on the other side

There you have it!

Hope this has inspired you to go forth and paint {without fear of perfection} and have fun while doing it!

Scribbling on walls?

Growing up we were taught not to write on the walls BUT our Mom did let us decorate our own rooms. I can remember once my sister painted rainbows on her walls. I thought she was just so cool.

Madison's room has definitely been a work in progress. This is what I started on Friday. Just a block letter M. I had to stop because I caught a nasty cold and was put to bed. For days I stayed in bed just dreaming up ideas.

Well my fever was a bit better yesterday and I had to get out of that bed so I started to paint.

And paint I did!

Those ideas were no longer just stuck in my head.

I just painted straight past lunch...

and couldn't stop!

Why stop when the gettin's good ,right?

It's just how I imagined in my dreams

When Madison came home from school you should have seen her eyes...

That's all I needed...her smile said it all!
{If I know you girls like I think I know you girls you are wanting to know all the secrets...right? Well If y'all do I will share and if you are just ready to move on that's OK too...you let me know~

Another peek..

Y'all were right! Its knobs for Madison's dresser. This dresser belonged to my oldest son Jesse. It held all of his little gowns and socks then was passed down to Kaylee. Now Madsion gets to enjoy it.

It now sports these "grown up" knobs I painted. Guess y'all have a hint of where we are going with this room..

Right again! Madison found this adorable pillow and fell in love. We have yet to find the perfect comforter but the fun is in the hunt, right?

Now that the dresser was complete I wanted to start on something special for her wall. I started painting "her surprise" and was not feeling very well. Marc was just returning home from a trip out of town to find me in bed. Ick... I think I have the flu. Aches and fever are about the only thing that's keeping me down. I just cant wait to feel better so I can get back to that unfinished wall. If you know me even a tiny bit, unfinished paint projects drive me crazy!! So as soon as the fever breaks and I get some energy flowing once again...I have a date with a very special 8 year old and a paint brush.
