Let's face it, times are hard...for most of us. I feel guilty spending even a dime on decorations knowing Christmas gifts need to be bought. The desire to decorate for Christmas becomes even stronger for me. Maybe every gift wanted will not be given but you can bet your elf ears this girls gonna decorate and decorate on a dime~First step was gathering up some free supplies. I knew I needed some greenery and what better place to find some than your "Home Depot"! I asked the sales clerk if I may help her out and take some of the tree triming scraps off of her hands. She was more than happy to help me out.Now dont be shy...help yourself! They will probably throw it out if you dont rescue it.I left it out in the rain for a day or two to help keep the branches fresh.I found a piece of scrap wood and cut out base for my wreath.I used some floral wire that I had on hand but if I had to buy some I would use green. It would be less likely to show on your wreath.I just snapped off a few good pieces and started laying them out and wrapped the wire around the wooden base.I repeated this step covering the wire as I went around the base.If you have pieces sticking out you can trim/snap them off later. It doesnt hurt to have a few extra hands/paws to help you out too~Isnt she cute!I just went right on along the base until all of it was covered.I then trimmed some of the "wild ones" off and hung it from a ribbon on my cottage door.
Another suggestion I might add...paint your wooden base green if you are worried about any wood showing. I didnt...I wouldnt...I like that it's not perfect. I also like the fact that it didnt cost me a dime and I still have a patio full of greenery just waiting to be made into something special...To be continued~
