Man Trip....

Road trips with my husband are a bit off the beaten' path for me. He is from Arkansas and going home means gravel roads and Hog games!

I did get a chance to visit the Opps store where Shannon finds so many awesome things. I was hoping to find her there but no luck.

Wish we had a store like this at home...Wonderful!!

You can just say that my sweet husband was in "Hog Heaven"!

Here he is calling them Hogs!

What a fun game to watch!

We were at the tippie top of the stadium and I must admit I used plenty a prayer and deep breathing to get me through. Just looking over at my husbands face made it so worth it!

While we were up there we had a chance to visit with some family. Do you recognize this huge house? Yep, it's the Duggars. My husbands cousins in laws live right next door to them. Can I just tell you how much fun that was!

I watch the show and I always thought the house sat on acres and acres of land and was far from the road. In real life it is close to the street and on a small plot of land. Marc's family said they were a super sweet family and very down to earth. For some reason that is just how I imagined them to be. Did you know that they have a new Grand baby now? Guess that could explain all of the visitors there...smile~

Just down the street we stayed in a cabin and it was Perfect!

Loved looking at all the old buildings and taking advantage of their signs from days gone by...inspiration for me!
The trip was just what He and I needed and I think I enjoyed his Man trip about as much as he did! Now I'm off to get some winners from last weeks giveaways...Good Luck!

  1. Great pics! On our way down from Nebraska (hubby took a job in Baton Rouge) we passed thru the area and wondered how close the Duggar's were. Love the show AND love your blog! I don't know a soul in Louisiana yet and it makes me feel connected someway to the area.
    Thanks again and keep bloggin"!

  2. First off, we are HUGE college football fans. Congrats on winning against Auburn. We use to live about 30 miles from Auburn. We are Florida State fans although we have had a couple of rough years:( My husbands family have had tickets for 35 years and we have great seats. (45 yard line, 24 rows up) My husband will really miss going to the games but being that we are moving 800 miles away, we won't be able to drive;) I watch the Duggars show and while we were in Washington DC this past June, we ran into them. She is as sweet and genuine as she is on tv. She was very kind and I hugged her neck and thanked her for raising such a great family. How much fun that you stayed right near them. I thought their house would be on a lot of land too. Funny how things look on tv. Can you believe that she is on her 19th kid? YIKES!

  3. How cool that the two of you were able to get away for a little retreat...even if it was to Hog Heaven. :) I think I would have enjoyed the Oops shop, the football game, and the cabin the best. :) Fun!

  6. I really like Arkansas, we have taken several little family trips there?
We are going to the Ozark Folk Center for Thanksgiving, never been there before but it was the only place still with rooms available. The place we usually stay in cabins is Mt Nebo.

  7. SO FUN!!!
Ya'll picked SUCH a great game to come to!! I bet your husband had the time of his life. I was VERY sad to have missed that game. I wish we could have met - I'm so sorry we didn't. I hope you really do come back and we can meet up.
Can I just tell you that I have lived here 15 years and have never been to find the Duggar house? I really should do that. SO funny. And I love that you went to Oops. I love that store and don't go there enough. It's hit or miss a lot of times but you can get some great finds.
So glad you had fun. Tell your husband a HUGE Go hogs from me!

  25. GO HOGS!!! What a great game to go to!

My mom and I were at Oops on Saturday but it was during the game. Did you find anything good? We thought they were kind of low on inventory.

Katie and I drove by The Duggar's house the other day and were SO surprised that it was so close to the house and on such a small plot of land too. On TV it looks like they are in the middle of no where.

I'm so glad you had such a great trip! :)

  28. Sounds like you had a great trip! I may have to ask The Hubster to take me to the Opps store in March for my 35 birthday. If there was one in Baton Rouge I would have never wanted to move back to Houston! HA! Never been to Arkansas so why not. I just won't tell him why I want to go!;) That is really neat abt the Duggars. They seem to be very genuine. Thanx for taking us along with ya.

  30. You were in my state! Sounds like you were in Fayetteville. I live in Hot Springs. Do you guys ever come to Hot Springs? Let me know if you ever do. I would love to meet you in person!

  31. Hi Susie!
I swear I thought about putting a sign on my back Saturday that said "bienvenue" so you might see it and we could have met! But decided Hubs might think I was crazy and leave me in the crowd! har

I can see from where you sat at the game that we were across the stadium from you! It was a great game, wasn't it?

I love to go to Opps. I've bought several things there through the years. Kindof hit and miss. Sometimes really neat things...then there is alot of "junk" too! But always fun to look!

We love Fayetteville because that's where we met in college. We hope to retire there someday if the Lord allows! Of course, having Harper there is just an added blessing!!

Glad ya'll had a great time. Love the cabin you stayed in. Is that for rent all the time? Is it in Springdale/Rogers?

  40. I was scanning your pictures and thought, "That big chair looks familiar..." then I read you were in Arkansas! I went to college/grad school just 20 min east of Fayetteville and Tontitown in Siloam Springs. Talk about GREAT antique/thrift stores all over the place! How fun! Your pictures really made me miss it!

  42. Wow Susie! I took the exact same trip you did last week. I live in Memphis (originally from Arkansas), but my husband is living in Bentonville, AR for work. So I went to Bentonville to spend the weekend with him. I also read Shannon's blog, and I went to Oops too! And we went to the Razorback game - probably sat close you you guys. We tried to find the Duggar's house, but we don't know our way around Tontitown. I have been a lurker on your blog for some time and admire your style. I would loved to have run into you if I'd known you were there. Anyway, enjoyed reading about your trip! Jenny
