I have been holding out showing everyone the cottage due to this chandie. I was hoping to find a really neat "old" one while in Round Top but I had no luck. The ones I did find were so out of my tiny cottage budget.

Sometimes you just have to improvise and buy something new...hehe. I found this one at our local Home Depot. It was just the right size for my little place. Jesse put some of his new skills to action and wired it right up! ....and to think...I use to fuss at him for climbing up on things...

He always cracks me up! He finds humor in everything he does...I love that kid of mine!

and it works!!!!!

The chandie was a bit naked and needed a little something. I found these black shades in the same department for .50 cents~

I think it just makes the space complete.

Now all I need is a day of sunshine so I can take a few shots of her in the full! I cant wait to show all of you. It's been a lot of fun and I have enjoyed having each of you with me every step of the way!
The winners of the giveaway are...Michelle from house to home (halloween decals) and Deborah from underthecajunsun (tassel). A BIG thanks to everyone that played!

Look at you shopping on a budget...GREAT JOB!!! I love it with the black shades :)
ReplyDeleteHaha...i'd be afraid one of them beams would break with him hangin' like that. But i suppose all his weight wasn't on it. Lol
Hope you have a wonderful week pretty lady. And sorry i've been a little MIA.
Looks fabulous, love those black shades - what a bargain!

Congrats to the winners there!
ReplyDeleteWooooweee nice find and great location for this lovely item. Okies.. want a quick tip.. (not that you need one mind you).. but happen to have some fabo wallpaper or heavy vintage fabic??
First measure the candle stick base that holds the light bulb. The one that has the sticker from the UL required by law. Most are about 2.5" in diameter to 3" and then meansure the length of the 'stick' part.. which looks about 3.5".
Now you'll need:
wall papper of your choice
double sided tape
ruler
wheel cutter or scissors
pencil
Lay the wall paper out on a flat surface and find an area that has some great designs on it, not one that happens to be missing a pattern repeat.. but if you're using a paper that has all over design then this step can be skipped.
Once you've located an area, Mark with a pencil in four corners and take a ruler to measure for 3 sep stick covers of 3.5" in length x what ever it is in diameter + .5" extra for an over lap. So if the diameter is 3" then add .5" for the final measurement to draw/cut on.
Cut the 3 stick covers out. Now using a double sided tape, press on the diameter edge on the underneath top side and on the bottom of the under side that will stick to the stick part. Don't remove the final part of the tape top until you are aready with all pieces.
Once all pieces have tape on it, using a ladder please, take the time to line up the bottom edge of the paper to just lower than the bulb area 1/8" lower.. do you need to trim a bit? This is the perfect time to do so. Once you've gotten the perfect match, remove the underneath tape that sticks to the candle stick and place this on the stick part, lining up the paper to where you wanted it. Wrap the paper around the candle stick and peel off the other side of the tape that is on the underneather top layer that will over lap the first edge you've just 'peeled' and stuck the the stick. Press firmly.. and poof you're done.
The neat thing of this is that come holiday's it can be changed out quickly to give a different look within minutes!
Okies, so maybe I should have kept my 2 cents to myself.. but it looked like it could use some finishing touches to the stick part there. I do this trick to my 'stick' lamps and other things that need a special lil something that screams.. designer touch in a sleeve! heehee..
