Face lift in a film....

I guess you can say this story began when we purchased this stainless dishwasher.

On this day our kitchen had become divided. Remember this post. If you want to catch up you can stop and read more about it.

Well,I had talked about how I wanted to change this out next. I have a hard time letting go of things when they work just fine. So I knew my kitchen would be divided for some time now. Well {IT} happened! The handle cracked on the microwave. Oh happy day! I knew that when the time and price was right this would be our next replacement.

Saturday while shopping at Lowes for more wood we found her! She was the last on the shelf so they marked her down so low we could not pass it up.

Why is it so hard to be frugal. I want nothing more than to go out and buy up those last two pieces to complete my set. Just look at em'. He's all white and darn it! He is working just fine, ugh.

While surfing the net looking for info on how to take out your old microwave {happy husband..ha!} I found this site. Have y'all ever heard of this? You can buy a film that looks like the real thing to place over your "old darlings" to make them new again! WEll just call me impressed! You can go here or here and even here to find out more. If my Etsy keeps doing well I think I may just go for the real thing though. If you try the film please let us know how it worked. I would love to see some before and after pictures.

So to complete my set I must get back to painting. Just a thought... Im thinking about repainting my cabinets...yes,again! I thinking about doing away with the glaze and going solid...I'll let y'all know~

Hi Susie! I'm sorry I haven't been by to visit in a while... it's so funny reading this because my handle BROKE OFF my microwave and I am just dying to get a new stainless one! Yay for dying/broken appliances! Your kitchen looks great. I am glad to see you're selling your fab signs once again - I mentioned them in my latest post!

Take care,
Kari

I just love the stainless! I wished that we would have went with stainless when we bought all new appliances, but we chose black instead. : (

Darn it! I'll have to wait a while for mine to start breaking!

The film stuff...I have seen it on tons of HGTV shows...The selling of the home shows really use this stuff a lot. It looks easy to use and pretty great. At least on the show!

Good Luck with Etsy! Hoping you get to get new ones! *smiles*

Susie - Your kitchen is fantastic. I know how you feel about wanting it all to match. I don't know why we are all so crazy like that. Thanks for sharing.

So funny that you are thinking about painting your cabs again because I was just looking for your tutorial on how you glazed them. I want to glaze mine but Lon has made it clear he wants no part in it. Is it manageable by yourself?

All in due time, I guess!

Try a black stove top, microwave and oven with a white refrigerator! Now, that's not a pretty picture but we lived with it for three years and it bugged me every day I walked in the kitchen. I don't think anyone else even noticed it!

Have a great day.

I've seen them do the film on HGTV before and it looks fine when it's finished. :) I can't belive you're even considering tacklig yoru cabinets again, taht wasn't even a year ago was it?!? :) Funny how quickly our tastes can change, isn't it?

I've heard the film works really well and is easy. Maybe that would extend the life of the 2 hard working guys that are still in great condition. Love your cabinets glazed, what color are you thinking of going with?

Hi, Susie..for some reason, I couldn't get my email to go thru so I'll say THANK YOU for the great signs I ordered from you. I can't post them as they are both Christmas gifts to two that read my blog every day. You did an outstanding job on them. Now, to Hobby Lobby for easels and I'm all set !
Thanks again,
bj

I can totally relate. I was bummed that the hurricane damage didn't do a thing to the old tile floor, so it's still here......sigh. And your kitchen IS lovely.

my new ones are black, and they get dusty. Sigh. The fridge is brushed stainless and black though, it is a nice blend. Love that microwave!

Oooo---love the new microwave. :) Your old stuff looks like what we have now. ;)

The new microwave looks GREAT! You are doing a good job holding off till things break. I know it is hard cause we all seem to want instant gratification.

I can't believe you are going to paint those cabinets again....I think you might be a glutton for punishment.....hehehe

Oh you are what inspired me to paint my cabs! Your before and afters is what got my hubby to gree to it. But I didn't do a glaze, and I still want to. My main reason is cause we have white appliances and plan to move in the next two years. If not, I would totally be into that stainless make over! Thanks for those links! Can't wait to see what you do!

LOL my microwave is the lone hold out from before our kitchen remodel.....I wish it would break.....but no it will not. Just mocking me with its whiteness!!!!

I know what you're going through! We have all black appliances that are working just fine! We bought a new stainless microwave very similar to yours, and I SO want to replace everything else, but that won't be happening anytime soon!

I'd be interested in knowing how that film works too!

I love the new microwave, Susie! I never heard of the film. Perhaps it's something we can use here at the lake, for a little kitchen update.

Oh, those three chairs your sister bought are fabulous!!!

My hubby and I have been wanting stainless for a while but didn't want to replace our that work just fine...I will be buying the stainless film very soon!!

ya know susie you could always replace the stove now and sell the old stove while it still works and make some money towards the new stainless stove.

I've seen that film...it looks amazing. But I wonder, too, if it looks that good in real life!

Congrats on your new stainless microwave. YAH for mark downs!

Hi Susie! Are you sure you didn't sabotage that poor pale microwave? Just a thought... ;)
LOVE the new one, and the dishwasher. I too have all white appliances and would love to replace them, but I'm going for new flooring first!

I think you should go for it!

I have seen this product used on that HGTV show with Clive Pierce...the name escapes me. Lisa LaPorter is usually the designer. Anyhow, it looked really nice when she used it on this one house. I looked at the second link and they even put some on a oven....you may want to check it out.

Your kitchen is absolutely lovely. I love everything about it. Mine is a disaster and I hope that soon we can work some magic in there. If only this economy picks up.

We're in the same boat... have the fridge but not the dishwasher, microwave or stove. If we were planning on being in our house for longer than a few more years, I'd be chomping at the bit for it to break and find a good sale like you did. :-)

we got a stainless microwave to replace our black one. as my little girl said, "it makes everything else look shabby." it's just a matter of time...

I just did a post about this stuff as well and love the idea. If you hear of anyone using it let me know.

My strength is finally coming back and I will be sending your give-a-way in the mail.
