Why on earth would my son do this on his last day of school and days away from his graduation?

Why did I think I would worry less when he turned 18? Who was I fooling?

Jesse just tries things to shake me up a bit but it will take a lot more than blue hair to rock my world. This precious child was placed in my arms with two large holes in his heart = FAITH
He survived spinal meningitis at the age of 11 = Grace
He proved the Dr.s wrong when they thought he had lymphoma at 16 = Miracle

Sorry Jesse. It will take a little more than a tattoo and blue hair to shake this momma! = unconditional love!

Thank you Lord for caring for my precious child. Thank you Lord for carrying me when he made me weary. Thank you Lord for hearing my cry....

Please continue to carry us today, his last day of school. Oh and Lord thank you for my blue haired tattoo miracle.
God bless you and God bless that precious son. I promise it will all be OK. My son declared his way into the world at 18. I remember the joy and the pain. Now he is the father of two wonderful babies. I am so proud of him.
ReplyDeleteThis too will pass - take a deep breath and pray.
Charla
God amazes us! You speak from the heart and your words i hear so clearly. I've not been through as much as you, but i have been there. My daughter was born at 27 wks...only 2 lbs at birth. Her heart stopped and she was revived. They told me she was blind, and would have many problems. I count my blessings to this day for now she is a healthy 6 year old.
ReplyDeleteLOVE is what we have and give we shall...Keep giving!!!
Susie, I SO understand. That's all I'll say!
ReplyDeleteYour words are precious! You will look back (one day) and laugh at this! He is full of life....what a blessing! I know I would share your feelings though. I have a 16 yr. old.....and I would DIE!! LOL!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.....it made me smile!
Amy
Oh my goodness, that is so funny! It's the shock & awe, mama. The shock & awe.
ReplyDelete:)
Just be glad THIS was his shock & awe instead of streakin 'cross the stage or something!!
Sounds like you've got yourself a little spit fire! Good luck momma:) You've got a lot of power and weight on your side though... the kind that rips seas apart and levels mountains, and raises the dead... you'll make it! The chances aren't even fair! Prayers for you today.
ReplyDelete:) Pretty Organizer
Congratulations on the Graduation. Looks like you've raised a great boy! They've got to do something to try and shake you up. Blue hair and tattoos I can handle!

What a beautiful post Susie! I loved it because I've been there. I've got a 23 year old that loves to shake things up too...and I wouldn't trade him for the world. He's the sweetest, kindest 23 year old I know. Yep, unconditional love!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the graduation!
Hahaha!!! My little brother dyed his hair blue a few days before his graduation! he went to the prom with blue hair and his date had hot pink hair! Very funny.
ReplyDeletehe's a keeper no matter what.
ReplyDeleteblue hair and all!
xo
My grandson had a blue Mohawk that stood three inches straight up from his head. Currently his hair is dyed black with hot pink patches. His mom is a hairdresser and helps him achieve his unusual appearance even though he is only 12! I remind myself that while men look at the outward appearance, God looks at the heart. We have prayed for this little guy since the moment we knew he was coming into the world, to be an influence in his life and to point him to Christ. I tell him (as well as others close to me) "I love you forever, for always, no matter what!"
ReplyDeleteNow... my 17 year old daughter just said, "Mom, now that I have had my Sr. pictures taken, I want to get my hair colored BLUE. How thoughtful for her to wait for pictures to be taken! (Abbey is just a junior... heavens knows why sr pics are taken in Jr year)
Blessings to you all as Jesse graduates!
What is it that they say? Kids will be kids; he is a precious miracle & congrats on graduation & to tell you the truth the blue hair & mohawk look good on him!!
ReplyDelete...looks like he has survived another miracle...you didn't kill him! wow, i have two boys and they sure love to push the limits don't they. you're a sweet momma of a blue haired angel! besides, God loves blue...just look at the sky and water! xo, mickey...and congrats on graduation!
ReplyDeleteRebellious boys are such a worry for their mamas. Mine is 18 too. He got 2 tattoos and moved out. I am in awe of the love I feel for him despite his attempts to make me insane. I began to worry the moment I became pregnant. I worry still. I think we always will.
ReplyDeleteBoys...they have a way of doing that to us moms, huh? He looks handsome, even with the haircut! You could always sneak into his room at night and just start shaving the Mohawk part!! Congrats to your whole family!!
ReplyDeleteI just love your mother's heart! Happy graduation to your son. May the favor of the Lord be his all the days of his life!
ReplyDeleteYOU GO !!! WHAT A GREAT FEELING...
ReplyDeleteI still see a blog star in that boy!!!
He is very handsome, blue hair and all. God must have big plans for him, with all those obstacles in his life. Congrats on his graduation. You are obviously a great mama!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Miz Susie,
ReplyDeleteYou do know y'all have a beautiful family right? Inside and out! Tell your young man I think his hair cut and color rawks! *smiles*
Such a sweet post. Don't we all have to do something we can look back on & think....why did I do that?
ReplyDeleteHe's still a cutie - I think more worrying is in your future.
What a great son you have! I think that crazy hair goes with the territory of college age kids. I know that I had blue-green streaks in my hair, and my hubby (then friend & then boyfriend) had several shades of hair at different times back then too!! (Can you imagine!)
ReplyDeleteJust a phase...no biggy!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on graduation!
I am SO glad you see the importance of life :) and how brief our time here ~ choosing your battles makes for a more peaceful existence and one that will make all stronger for. love and hugs, Nancy
ReplyDeleteOh, Dear Susieness, poor thing! Your son is a miracle and he's just trying to sow a few oats - it's sad, they all do! You have the right attitutde and the right shoulder to lean on!
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia :)
What a miracle he is! Thank you for sharing a little bit of his life with us...and his hair!
ReplyDeleteHe will out grow the crazy haircuts, but he will always be a miracle! And boy he is handsome! He could be a model. I bet all the girls are after him!
ReplyDeleteSo funny...the mohawk that is blue!
ReplyDeleteGod is amazing!
This is a beautiful post. It is amazing to know how God cares for us in the small and the large things that come our way. I guess you're right, in the eternal scheme of things, a blue mohawk is really no big deal. ;-)
ReplyDeleteBoys will be boys but hey they do make us laugh a lot....great post and congrats to the graduate!
ReplyDeleteWell, it sounds like you're taking the "change" of hairdo very well. As a high school teacher, I hope that I can help continue that peace of mind by saying that this is very common. I've seen a LOT worse! ;) I think it looks pretty cool, and I'll bet his friends do too! Cute post!
ReplyDeleteWow, what a testimony.....and such a sweet post.....yep, they are trying, but nothing makes a mom's heart weak but strong (at the same time!) like a great son.
ReplyDeleteSuzanne
What a great post and great reminder for all of us mommas!!
ReplyDeleteblessings,
kari & kijsa
heeeheee.. don't you just love young adults that happen to be your children??
ReplyDeleteMuch love and hugs for your compassionate heart and for the love of a child, no matter the hair color or tatoo.
kiss kiss
i love this post!!! ok, for so many reasons, but i love that you are in love with your baby boy...and yes, he's 18, but he's still your baby!
ReplyDeleteas for the blue hair and tat, well, the hair grows back and that tat isn't too bad...he's handsome!!!
good work mom!

ReplyDeleteCongrats to your son on his graduation! After all you guys have been through, a little blue hair is nothing to complain about!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Mandy
Fun stories to laugh about as he gets older!
ReplyDeleteHe sounds like a good kid, and it is obvious that he is well loved!
Good mama! :)
What a sweet post! Congrats to your son :)
ReplyDeleteGoodness, I hope my son doesn't catch me on your blog this morning. He's been asking for a blue mohawk for years. He's only nine! Congrats to your son and to you as well.
ReplyDeleteHey, I think it's super cool!! But then I'm married to a musician and love that funky fun side. However my hubs doesn't get funky enough for my liking. ;)
ReplyDeleteHappy graduation!
Love the mohawk! ;)
Oh - I could see you maybe not waiting that in all the pictures. but thankfully hair grows back. It could ALWAYS be worse!!
ReplyDeleteOh, Susie, you've got a great boy there and he has a great momma. Congratulations on the upcoming graduation!!!
ReplyDeleteAre you coming to Canton next week? I need a new sign.LOL
Congrats to him for graduating! What an exciting time for him and maybe an emotional time for you. :) And praise the Lord for all of His miracles!
ReplyDeleteHe is still so handsome! And the hair matches the tattoo:) Just remember, the hair is only a temporary thing. On top of all the other things to be thankful for with him, he's a good kid.
ReplyDeleteMy 12 year old son just got his hair cut this same cut :) I really like it though... its a baseball thing for him :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog. Baby girl is on the mend for sure.
Except my sons isnt blue :)
ReplyDeleteDear Susie, our oldest is almost 22, our youngest, 15. I have survived thus far by remembering the words of our great Dr. James Dobson. It went something like this. . . "Hair and clothes are fads mom. . . they will come and go. It's more important to focus on what's inside. . . like how our children treat people; are they respectful, mannerly, etc."
ReplyDeleteSo Susie. . . this too shall pass!
Blessings,
Sher
Wow, praise God for what he does!! And I personally love the blue hair!
ReplyDeleteI am delurking to post a comment. (I subscribe via rss feed so I don't usually comment but read everything you post!)
ReplyDeleteI have read the many sweet things you have written about your son. Every time I hug my daughter a little more knowing what you have been through as a mom. I can't imagine and to think that you are going to watch him graduate - God is so good!
And that blue hair and a mohawk... that is so funny! And your reaction as a mom is too funny too. I got a tattoo in High School too (without showing my mom for many, many years!) so I get it. The blue hair not so much but the mohawk I dig! Tell him congrats! I hope you guys party like its 1999 for him! :) He deserves it and so do you mom!
What a precious post about a precious miracle boy! I admire your attitude and the way you put it all in perspective. Congrats to you and to Jesse on the big graduation day!
ReplyDeleteHugs
~Amanda
How funny! Good for you mom to not get upset. God still loves those with blue mohawks & tattoes! Just make sure he is always following Jesus! I have a 20 yr old and can tell you I have to keep reigning her over to the narrow path. The wide path that leads to destruction is the path I see most college kids on. It is very tempting for them as they all say they want "the college experiance"...just pray alot and don't be afraid to reign him in when you see him getting on that wide path.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless You!
Darlene
You are such a gracious mom, Susie! I think I would flip out, but on further reflection, realize that my "baby" is a miracle, too, and not to get so upset about something that will grow back out! : )
ReplyDeleteMy 18 year old daughter came home yesterday with the underneath layer of her hair hot pink. I also have a 16 year old Christian rock guitar playing son so I totally understand. We went on a cruise last summer and my MIL took him and let him get one side shaved with the assymetrical bangs hanging in your eyes. My Marine husband had the rest shaved (it looked very EMO look) She bought him skinny jeans and a bright green pleather belt. My MIL is no longer in the running to get our children if we die.
ReplyDeleteMaybe there's something wrong with me... I think he looks gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteOh...I LOVE this! What a GREAT way to look at it! You are such a great role model mama! There are lots of women out there who would love to have a blue haired, tattooed 18 yr. old son! You are blessed!
ReplyDeleteYep; I say let him enjoy it now b/c they won't be able to do it when they are 30.
ReplyDeleteMy son's 6; and he wanted a mohawk this year so we let him do it.
Wonderful post about your handsome son. Happy graduation! This is the time to have fun with your appearance, most of us are not lucky enough to have careers that allow us to continue our individuality into adulthood. So we all have a short window of time between mom and dad and the "grown up years" to be free to look however we choose. I say go for it! I know you thank God every day for him, blue hair, tattoo and all.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful post. Love to see how God works in other peoples lives. Praying your son continue to be blessed in his life ahead.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, such a beautiful, sweet post! It just melted my heart!
ReplyDelete(And CONGRATS & BEST WISHES to your son!)
I love this post. I've been in a similar situations with my 20-yr-old daughter. I know all about unconditional love. :)
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing like the love of a mother! Well said. Lovely post!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this!
ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's Day!
I have a 20 year old just like him! I was "cool" with the tattoo (half way down his entire arm!) and his first couple piercings. Then I had to ask him to stop! He has for the time being, he thought WHY NOT GET MORE because I never reacted like a crazy woman. He just started talking of another BIG tattoo.... here we go.
ReplyDeleteVery Sweet Post!
ReplyDeleteThis sweet, heartfelt post made me cry. You are indeed blessed...even if the blessing has a blue mohawk. :)
ReplyDeletesweet momma love :)
ReplyDeleteWhen my Mom had trying times battling breast cancer she used to always say, "I know He wouldn't give me anything I couldn't handle, but I sure wish He didn't trust me so much sometimes!".
ReplyDeleteI love the blue hair and tatoo~ he is an individual and you support him and you are one rockin' Momma girly!

First and foremost, let’s get one thing straight: Herve Leger Dresses“There’s an incorrect assumption about Herve that it’s only for evening,”Herve Leger sale Lubov told me up on the 18th floor of her Oktoberfest Costumes Times Square showroom and headquarters. “It can be worn anytime! People also assume that it should fit really tight, but personally I wear it one size bigger because I like the comfort of it while still getting the silhouette.”Herve Leger Replica These are the dresses that are coming into our stores and online now, and these are the dresses that are going to show up come Saturday, because as we pointed out in our runway report last season, an Herve Leger show is full of Herve Leger dresses.
