Road Trip...

Hey girls! Grab your bag and put on your cutest pair of shoes cause Im taking y'all shopping!

Every year on March 20th {first day of spring} my sister and I save the date. It is the day our little brother was born. He would have been 30 this year but due to an accident seven years ago he went home with our Lord. We use this day to celebrate his life and to laugh and giggle about our fun times. We use this day to thank him for the lives he saved due to his organ donation. We use this day to love on each other. We use this day to SHOP! So if you girls want to help us celebrate life.....let's go!
This is Perkins Rowe in Baton Rouge. Oh a girl can get into some trouble here. We know ;)

We had lunch here.

The weather was perfect! Spring did come ....

Check out this chandie!

This has got to be my favorite shop...you will see why~

A bit of blue n brown love shown here.

Be still my heart... I want you..I need you...I will be back for you!

Blue n white delight...

Orange? Not sure if I loved it till now. Yes! I do love this color...

Thank you for coming along....

I have a show in two weeks so I will be busy painting my little heart out and watching my house turn from home to studio de' messy! I must take pictures so I can show yall how crazy it gets here before a show. It gets ugly here people...oh the mess...oh the craziness....oh the love~

What a wonderful way to celebrate your Brother's life. I commented earlier on a post where you spoke of your brother...it's just a great reminder to cherish those that we have in our lives. I've got 3 sisters and just one Brother...but we did have a little brother once...

I can't imagine losing the one Brother that we do have left (not to say my sisters are indispensable, because trust me they are not, as I'm sure you understand!).

I am one of those people that would rather not visit a cemetary to talk to loved ones. It only makes me think of their death or funeral. I'm not knocking those who do. For some people it is healing and just what they need. But for me, I would rather think of their life. That's the part of your day that I love-that you were celebrating his life!

Seems like you've really been having a rough patch right now. It also seems like you've got great family to help you through it, but all the same-I hope things get better for you!

Oh wow, didn't realize that the heavy white accents were coming back in. Give me color and textures please.

Love the limes or is that chartreuse and reds.

I had a contractor come through the house early Saturday morning and most men don't like 'stuff' and he actually said 'Nice country home here' and this from a "manly manly" heehee..

Great to see your adventures and treasure hunting finds!!! Go get some more girl!

How wonderful that you all do something to honor your brother's memory every year. I can't think of a better way than spending some quality time with your other sibling. And about that store, FANTASTIC! I could go crazy in a store like that!

Good Morning Miz Susie,
What a wonderful way to remember your brother, spending time with you sister. I too have lost my brother and sister both so my rememberances are spent in a solitary fashion but I'm blessed to have had them for that short time. Hope you have a wonderfully productive week painting!

Wow! I moved from BR 2 years ago and I can't believe that they managed to get Perkins Row up that quickly! Seems like it was being "prepped" for years. When I left, all I remember it having was the tower thingy and maybe some condos. Very, very nice!

Aw Susie. I lost my brother too. He was 35 and died from a brain aneurysm that ruptured. He died 12 years ago...but it seems like yesterday. His daughter was born on his birthday. She was 5 when he passed away. So on his birthday, I'm usually celebrating the gift of life God gave us to remember Mike. She has his eyes!

Loved the photos! And you make me wish I had a sister. I was the only girl. It's awesome to see my daughters take care of one another.
Love all your posts. Can't wait to see the home studio.

I've never visited your area of the country, so it's fun to see in pictures! I love that you get together to celebrate your brother's life. I have 2 sisters and we had a brother that we never met - he was stillborn. My mother was never allowed to really mourne his death and we couldn't talk about him much, but I'll always think about him.

I am from Louisiana originally and enjoyed seeing your shopping pictures. I love to visit Baton Rouge and New Orleans as I have family in both places. Nothing like a great shopping trip while I am there. And restaurants...WOW!!! The South has the best!!!

I have heard a lot about Perkins Rowe but haven't checked it out yet. Baton Rouge traffic is so often a headache I don't go that way too often... but this would be worth it, I think!
