A lot of "greatfulness" a little "sore"...

Madison and I headed to town to begin her bedroom makeover. We were all full of smiles and laughter. We talked about the color of her walls and the size of her pillows. I'm so glad my daughter shares my passion for decorating, even at the tender age of 8. You have to raise those girls right from the start, hehe.

We were not prepared for what was about to head our way. Suddenly those pillows and paint chips were a talk of the past. Within seconds all of our priorities had changed.

You just assume that everyone will stop at their stop sign. Yesterday we learned that people are human and make mistakes and run stop signs. Yesterday we were victims of someones mistake.

In just seconds my life stopped and seconds turned into minutes, turned into hours. If I would have been seconds faster she would have missed me altogether. If I would have been seconds slower she would have hit me full force on my side.

Today I'm thankful that my daughter is just shaken and sore and my car is the only thing needing fixing. Today I'm thankful that the other lady was OK and was honest. Today we can talk paint chips and pillows once again. Thank you Lord~

  5. GIRL........!!!

We have GOT TO MOVE out of Baton Rouge.

    The traffic is so horrible.
We have had 6 accidents in our family none of which were OUR faults, we always get hit by someone running a light or not stopping or something....and TWO were by drunk drivers.

I have really had it with the crazy traffic.

Me and some of my friends went to "CHICK Nite" to see "Lisa Bevere" speak and one of my friends daughter's was in from Houston and she was saying how BAD the traffic is here compared to HOUSTON even.
I just can't hardly stand all the wrecks here.....alot of my friends have been hit too just like you.
I am so sorry that happened to your sweet little ride.......but I am more thankful that you all are okay.
    Hang in there.....
We need to all start writing the Mayor and complaining I guess...it's just gone far beyond "out of control" ever since Katrina.
    We will talk soon.....

  6. One good thing that comes from an accident like this is that it will make you a better driver even if it wasn't your mistake. Around here, running a stop sign will cost you about $200! Makes you "STOP" and think! Glad that y'all are okay.

  7. Glad to hear you and your daughter are okay. Just takes a brief second to change your life or make you ponder how precious life is.

  8. Wow, what timing God has. I am thankful HE protected you all.....take care. Yes, Houston traffic is bad sometimes, but I am thankful to be here instead of back in BR. Many things about BR we loved, but the roads were not one of them. I can't imagine now post Katrina. Ya'll be safe and I'm so glad you know you were protected and will continue to be!!!

  13. Scary! Glad to hear you are ok! I'd rather talk paint chips any day. Maybe that woman was dreaming of her own re-do and forgot about the sign. With so much going on it's so easy to get distracted. What a good reminder to keep you eyes (and thoughts!) on the road!!

  14. Okay, I think your family has met its quota of car accidents for the year...you can stop now. : )

Seriously, I'm so thankful you both are okay. Cars can be repaired so much more quickly than people can, and with a lot less pain!

  15. I so do not want to put a damper on something that seems minor in the grand scheme of things but seriously, even though this lady "seemed" nice, please be prepared for a pain in the rear.

My husband, baby, dog and I were hit HARD (as in totalled our Durango) going on a month ago. Despite photographic evidence and a police report that made it quite clear who was in the wrong (it was a 3 car accident including us so the other two were fighting and refusing to assume liability) the insurance company fought us. Did not want to give us a rental or assume liability to, OH I DON'T KNOW, let us have our lives back maybe???? It has been a nightmare. I went into this situation so grateful to be alive, grateful that my sweet boy was alive and that all of us were without a scratch despite being NAILED by that truck and am now so bitter and angry and hating insurance companies that I seriously feel the need to warn others. I hope hope hope that her insurance company does not jerk y'all around the way we were.

Sadly I now completely see why people say "screw it" and lawyer up immediately.

  16. Thank goodness you are ok. Traffic accidents can happen at any time to any one. We just have to be on guard all the time, these days.

  35. I'm glad you're OK! It's amazing how fast these things can happen and how scary they can be. Sometimes I feel like I become immune to it as an Insurance Agent because I deal with it on a daily basis but I always try to put myself in my customer's shoes because I've been there and know how truly scary it can be.

  38. So glad you are alright! What a blessing! We were hit last May and the man who hit us didn't stop - but we were very thankful that only our van received the worst injuries! We are finding that whiplash injuries come and go and neck pain is a real pain in the neck! Be sure to take time to heal and enjoy the benefits of your insurance - that's what we have it for. Massage and chiropractic were such a blessing for us.

  39. I am just now checking my blogs. Sorry you had such a scare!!! And glad that you and your daughter are okay and yes, the car can be fixed!!

My hubby was involved in the same type of accident a few months before we were married. A lady went through a stop sign and went right into him on his motorcycle. He went flying and slammed into the curb. The impact was so hard his helmet came off. They said had he not been wearing it, he would have died.

Thank God for His angels that watch over us constantly!!!

  40. My daughter had an accident when she first started driving (she was fine and so was the other car driver). I was so afraid AFTER for the possibilities of what COULD have been...UGH!

  41. I'm so sorry this happened to you, but so thankful that it was minor. Crazy how something like this makes everything else seem so unimportant. Hope you and your little darling are feeling better , they say the 3rd day is always the worst as far as soreness is concerned. Feel better soon!
