A little car.A little cat.A little Sun! Yehaw!

Remember that kitchen we were working torwards? Well this stepped in its way. My daughter turned sweet sixteen in September. She was thinking a new car with a big red bow on top waiting outside for her. Didnt we all have that same dream. I know I did. Mine went more like the sweet sixteen movie.. my mom forgot. Oh yes she did! I did cut her some slack because my PawPaw had just passed away. I still feel a bit sad because I wont ever get that special day back. You girls know what Im talking about, right. Anyway ..because we are one of "those" familes Kaylee didnt get her dream car she had dreamed about. We were all busy saving for this.

Its not the car of her dreams but she is so exicited. We payed cash thankyouLord~ The money that I made from my signs was to go towards my microwave. Well taxes saw to that so I have to start all over again. Thats life right.

I know you are soooo looking past that car and thinking....Whaaaa~ Yes thats a swimming pool ladder in my front yard. And yes that is a basketball goal on the ground. We are so backwoods its not funny. You just have to laugh cause you just might be a redneck.

We did adopt a new kitty that Miss Darlene was asking about. Dont let him fool you with his cuteness. This cat is a furball gone bad!

Last but not least we have sun today. That means I was able to stain these little darlings some of you have been waiting on. They will be in the mail soon as they dry. I have something new Im working on too~

  1. Yeah, that's my sign!

Nice car! We have a 17 year old DD. On her 15th birthday, DH brought home a 2006 Mustang Convertible. She secretly thought that would be her car when she got her license - Wrong! We gave her the 2004 Chevy Impala that the Mustang replaced.

  2. Susie, after we talked about stainless appliances the other day my son said something about it in front of someone outside of our family. Just putting it out there in the air made me realize that I was being silly. There's nothing wrong with mine...I just have a case of the wants. I'm gonna get over it.

    Plus, the tax man cometh!!

  3. *SQUEALING LOUDLY* I see my sign!!!!!!!!!

That looks like a great car for your 16 year old, and to pay in cash....PERFECT!

Oh, and the kitten is just TOO CUTE! He looks a lot younger than Midnight...she is about 5 months now. Oh, you just wait...if you think he is bad and wild now...give him a couple of more months!!

Can't wait to see what else you are teasing me about!!!!!

  6. Lucky girl! My daughter turned 16 last June. She wants a car so bad. Well, not bad enough to go get a job and buy one. I might buy her one soon though. It would be so much better then driving her all over. She could also run errands for me...you've talked me into it. :-)

  7. She will be very thankful for that car. Nice and safe...I loved my Civic when I had one.

  8. Your signs are lovely!!! I think they are so fantastic! :)

The car is a great starter car for your daughter! And how AWESOME that you all could pay cash for it!!!! Congrats! I bet it will do great on gas mileage for her!

My first car was a 67 VW beetle. It did awesome on gas...although gas wasn't too expensive back when I turned 16...in 1997! :) Having your own car is such a treat and a great lesson on responsibility! I pray she stays safe in it and enjoys it!!!!! :o)

  9. Yes, I had that same dream about the car. Too bad it didn't come until my junior year of college!

That kitten is the CUTEST! I'm sure he is bad. The cutest ones are, aren't they? That's how they get away with it! : )

  10. Hey, sweet Susieness! Oh, Happy Birthday, daughter dear! I love that car! I inherited my Daddy's dark blue sportie Dodge Dart when I was sixteen. I thought I was so hot! I don't think we used that expression then! lol So proud you could pay cash and that you're so gifted with all your talents to make money!
Thank you for your sweet words today, friend.
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia :)

  11. How exciting! My almost 16 year old wants a car too! But...it ain't happening yet! Mama would have to do a lot of substituting!

Your signs are darling! I have a question. What type of paintbrush do you use to keep in the lines? I did a monogram yesterday on canvas using a round brush, and it's as crooked as it can be!! It's a gift that might get trashed! It shouldn't be that that hard! (Yes--I meant to put in the 2 that's!) If you would share your tips with me, I would be forever grateful! And...your kitty is jsut darling!

  15. What a great new car for Kaylee! That's exactly what our kids will get. My hubby has a 2004 Civic that he will give to our son, then he's going to buy another one and then pass that on to our daughter when she's ready. Hondas are great cars and get such good safety ratings for our precious babies to ride around in.

Oh, and the kitty is too cute!

  16. That's a good first car. Our daughter got a 97 Honda accord when she turned 16 (4 yrs ago). We told her we would match whatever she could save. She got a job when she was 15 and saved up $2500 so we matched it & got her Honda for $4900 cash. Now after 4 yrs she sold it for $3400 with 205,000 miles on it. That was a good chunk of change to put towards her new used car...2003 Nissan Altima. Oh I remember the days when she first started driving very clearly...I was panicked most of that 1st yr and I still pray everytime I see her getting behind the wheel.

  17. Hey, I think we have that same pool ladder on our patio right now! Love the "reality" of it all...makes me feel normal.

My first car was a honda accord and I loved her dearly! Kudos to you on paying cash for that sweet ride!

  18. Great wheels.
    Be careful but have fun.
Love the lawn ornaments - don't we all have weird things like that?

  19. I hope she is excited about that car, a far cry from my first car and my kids could tell you about some of the things they had to drive when they were 16. Glad those sign sales have helped out. Jackie

  20. How fun! We (all 3 kids) had to drive the same hand me down car until we graduated high school but my 16th birthday was still so special.

  21. I can't see your photo of the sign but that's a very nice car and a cute little kitty. I do know that all that cuteness is not at all TRUE though...LOL!

  22. OH YEAH...now I can see the signs. Which reminds me...I want one. How do I order?

  23. My first car was when I was 17 and was almost as old as I was. And a clutch that stuck. I HATED it. My parents sold it. So I had no car. For months! Then they bought another car, almost as old, that I loved. High mileage and all. I'd still probably be driving it (well, ok, probably not since it would have been over 20 years now) had it not been for a deer!

    Cute kitty! :)

  24. Great car! I bet Kaylee is excited! We have one turning 16 in August! Oh me! And I got so tickled at your previous post. My husband comes in with stuff from his childhood, too. And it doesn't fit our decor either. If I saw something, he gets highly offended and says...I live here too! LOL! So what can I say!

  25. I would have loved to have gotten a car like that when I was in high school! Lucky girl!

Oh and I loved the married to a 12 yr old stuff. We have cowboys stuff stashed all over. I am not nuts about it, and have tried to keep it in the office, but Joel loves it all so much. What do ya do!? You are right-it gives the place quirky personality.

  26. I am ready to know more about your new "item" you keep mentioning!!!!

  27. My daughter turns 16 today. She is very seriously about getting a job so she can save towards her car. We told her we would match whatever she could save towards it, but not until she's a senior. We're going for her permit today as well. What happened to that little sweetpea they placed in my arms??? Enjoy your day, your paintings are beautiful!

  28. Nice car!! You can't go wrong with a Honda! I've only driven Honda (and one Toyota) since 1988 when I bought my first one. :o)

I just love your signs! You are certianly making it hard for me to put off ordering one....

  29. Ah! Sweet 16. Seems like yesterday and forever ago all at the same time for me. Tell your sweet daughter Happy Sweet 16 from one of your blogging friends. My son turns 16 in less than 2 months and I am scared to death. He is driving the beat up truck but got the "bumpin' stereo system" (his words not mine) for Christmas so he is very satisfied. Cute car by the way, my first was a Honda Accord-and silver!

  30. Our daughter will turn Sweet 16 in June. I can't believe it's come so quickly. We would like to do something special but don't think we'll be able to give her a car just yet.

  31. I think we ALL have that dream about going to the drive way and seeing a car with a big red ribbon. EVEN when we aren't 16, some of us still have hope that ONE DAY, SOME ONE will give us this Ultimate gift. Even if we end up with the car payments, just to see that BOW on the car would be AWESOME! Glad ya'll had sun so you could stain your pretty signs....and girl...you're hilarious. If you hadn't "called out" the pool ladder or the basketball goal, we wouldn't have seen it. :)

PS: I JUST heard about the Blissdom Conference. It sounds like a HOOT...I probably won't go this year because of funds and lack of time/notice. Is is an Annual event? It would be something fun to look forward to NEXT year.

  32. I will never forget my mom asking me to take out the trash on my 16th birthday and I threw a HISSY fit - little did I know they were trying to get me to go into the garage to find my new white Camry complete with pink bow!

I sort of ruined "the moment" with my temper tantrum. But I really did LOVE that car! I still apologize to my parents over that one.
