You wouldn't find this room showcased on HGTV. Nope. Only in my house would you find such a beauty to behold. If you have an 18 year old son still living in your home you know where Im coming from.

They do this to the window so they can sleep on into the day...

Talk about your window mistreatments...

He's the master of this baby. Check out the fine use of his invention. Guess that's what happens when you have lived with me for 18 years. Gotta give it to him. Bless his heart

Yeah, along with that kid comes his boots. Very ugly boots...Im just sayin'

For the love of everything good in this world... let's keep the peace!

Now that's keeping it real...

Luckily, my boy is 2 1/2 and has no opinion about decorating. The odots, however, he is guilty of...still in diapers!
ReplyDeleteoh my, is that what i have to look forward to with my two growing boys? LOL!
ReplyDeleteOh boy do I understand!! 16 year and 19 year old boys at my house. I stick Downy sheets in their stuff all the time!! We are so smart. :)
ReplyDeleteThose boys are a mess, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteMine's 11 but definitely has his own way of doing things.
I could have written this post! I have a 17 year old stepson and a 12year old son. I keep deodorant in my car for them. LOL.
ReplyDeleteMy 12 year old shoes ALWAYS REEK. It is mandatory that he keep them in his room for fear they'll scare away any company!
And the boys have all their blankets hanging on the windows. It is like a cave up there so they can stay up late and then sleep in late...Of course most of the time I can't even enter the room for the clothes piles they have....I think they are trying to keep me out....and guess what?
Its working! I'd rather not know!!
(-:
Can't you just see 'em wandering around with a club and a furry tunic? haha.....luckily in a few years, they turn into good men like their daddies!! ;)
ReplyDeleteSuzanne
LOL! I have girls, but the way things are starting off, we might be like that in 14 years...it amazes me the mess that can be made against all of my efforts of having a clean house!
ReplyDeleteI learned something over here yesterday...corbels! I never knew what they were called and I was watching HGTV, and a lady asked what those fancy things were called...I stuck my nose in the air, and thought, "Corbels of course ~ doesn't everyone know that?!" LOL...expanding my vocabulary!
I've got a 10 year old boy . . . I can see where we're headed. It's already beginning!
ReplyDeleteMandy
Yes, yes....YES!! I can relate totally! My "boy" turns 22 yrs. old tomorrow..I cannot even believe it. However, sorry to say-the size 14 boots left right in our entryway where they are a safety hazard to all who enter our home, starting his night at 10:00 PM (I've already been asleep for hours), the laundry.. etc. STILL ever present. He is away at college now, heading to law school in the fall... so I can only get to experience these joyous things when he is home on break. There are such JOYS that come along with "boys" too! Makes you appreciate your hubby that much more-we know the road they traveled.
ReplyDeleteI can fully understand. We have a 19 year old soon to be 20 year old son that lives at home. Yesterday after he left to go to work, (in Kansas, from Ut) I found his electric blanket still on....and his boots looks identical to your sons.....LOL I do love my sons! Have a great day! :-) lewaina
ReplyDeleteMy 17 year old likes to sleep all day too, when she can. Her room stays a mess most of the time and she hates to clean...LOL... But I have learned to pick my battles as she brings home her report card with a 4.12 GPA. But eventually I have to say, "you need help with your room?" and she cleans it so I won't. She hates me to mess with her things...LOL
ReplyDeleteHAHA! That is hilarious! I have a brother and growing up my mom would get so mad at him....he always stuck his dog in the house to sleep with him at night and it made his room stink! HA! Gotta love you some boys! =)
ReplyDeleteLove your Blog!
xoxo Emily
I sorta like that window mistreatment! He's quite talented! Must get it from his mama!!! I'm right there with you! Love the Bounce idea! We've got lots of smelly running shoes...whew!!
ReplyDeleteLove ya,
susan
I painted a very lovely "k" this morning!!! I am so excited! Only you would be excited with me!!! Woohoo!!
:)
Yeah, that is keeping it real. I have an eleven year old boy who does the sheet thing over the window for darkness. We also have lots of boots right outside the back door. Isn't it lovely? I just keep reminding myself that one day I will miss seeing all those boots out there.LOL
ReplyDeleteMy kids are still little - but the dryer sheets are a great idea!
ReplyDeleteI got my name board last night. It is great and I love it! Happy Friday little lady!
ReplyDeleteI have a 19 year old boy and a 16 year old boy. The 19 year old is the worst! I was laughing at his window treatment, because my 19 year old tacks blankets over his wood blinds in the summer. Drives me crazy! I won't even show a picture of his bedroom. I have to say that my 16 year old always has a neat room. Amazing they are related!
ReplyDeleteThat is just too funny...I think he did a great mistreatment!!! I think I can smell those boots now.....
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you didn't believe me about a kitten....lol! You will soon be blogging about all new things after your kitty tears everything up. Yep, they look cute and innocent but WATCH OUT!! Midnight has not been happy cause she has had to stay in the back bedroom (so our Lucy poodle doesn't hurt her after her spay and de-claw). She is wild enough though that she opened up one of her paws and now has had to be confined to a kennel. She is not happy at all about that. She will be able to be back out in the room starting on Saturday. At least after she gets to come back out in the house she won't be shredding anything anymore!!!!!
Hi Susie!
ReplyDeleteMy boys are 14 and 4...so yeah, I know about them boys! lol
Make sure to come by my blog next week, I am having an Etsy Party with a Mr. Linky and GIVEAWAYS! So much fun!!! Can't wait!!!
Bella :)
Oh, darling, Susieness! I feel your pain. My son was so messy in his room - I could smell it and that wasn't a good thing! lol wish I had thought of those sweet smelling dryer sheets! ;)
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;) 0h, yes! You know I wore goggles!!
boys are messy no matter what the age!
ReplyDeleteI am so not ready for stinky feet. Their feet are still precious and kissable.
ReplyDeleteMy boy is just a toddler, but he is SUCH A BOY!
ReplyDeleteHow do they learn this stuff??
Is it encoded on the Y or something?
I know exactly what you are saying. It's hard to have your home look like "Better Homes & Gardens" when you have teenages. Gotta love em! blessings...Sherry
ReplyDeleteMy oldest is starting to express an interest in his room decor but the youngest could care less. And yes boys are smelly creatures.
ReplyDeletehee hee.....can so relate!! But my teens don't need to cover the windows. They can sleep til noon with the bright sun right in their eyes.
ReplyDeletelove the bounce in the boot...too much
ReplyDeleteOh...yes. We have 3 boys living in this house - I can so relate! And guess what I saw in my hubby's bathroom at home when I went to meet his parents when we were dating? That same sign!!!!! He stole it from somewhere outdoors - a railroad area or something. So funny!
ReplyDeleteOmigosh, you make me laugh, but what a great idea... going to get the bounce NOW.
ReplyDeleteVERY FUNNY!!! Nothing in the world like boys! ~Cheryl
ReplyDeleteps...and no smell like a boys smell :)
you know, i think 'the nester' might be proud of his 'mistreatment':)
ReplyDeleteYep, I know what you mean! Bounce is a great tip. Wish I would have known that one when my boys were still at home.
ReplyDeleteWell I am getting close to 18...mine is already 16 and I see these signs already too!
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe you have an 18 year old son! I guess he could have worse things in his room than abused windows and stinky boots!
ReplyDeleteSee you in a couple weeks!
I should do that to a couple of pairs of my husband's shoes! :)
ReplyDeleteThat is pretty nifty and smart to hang a blanket to keep the sunshine out! Smart teen you have!
ReplyDeleteI need to use that trick on my boys shoes. Icky sometimes!!!
LOVE the last picture!! Laughing very hard over here as the mom of four boys that killed me!
ReplyDeleteHi Susie,
ReplyDeleteI won't stop dreaming...I'm a pisces after all. That's the sign of the dreamer! Anyway, I felt better today after getting the proceed check from the sale of our 1 1/2 acre lot. LOL On the drive home from closing I was thinking of a sign I saw that said, "If your lucky enough to live on the lake, then your lucky enough" and I am! Even though our home is small & not my 4100 sq ft dream home it is on the lake and we are lucky! Bigger isn't always better, right?!
Have a great weekend!
I love the bounce idea. The hubby could really benefit from this. LOL>>>
ReplyDeleteI so wish I had thought of that (dryer sheet in the shoe) when my son lived at home!! Those football sneaks stunk to High Haiti!!
ReplyDeleteBlessings
This is so familiar. My son is now 22 and has his own place. Believe it or not, I miss all the quirky things he does. Even the dryer sheets in the shoes. The blanket clothespinned to the curtain is a new one. Gotta love it
ReplyDeleteYou mean it doesn't get better as they get older???? Oh, well. : )
ReplyDeleteThat sign is too funny!!!
ReplyDeleteNicole~
Does a 19 year old daughter count? I imagine that I could possibly win due to the perfume, makeup, shoes and clothing scattered all over the bathroom as well as her bedroom. :)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! This so reminds me of my son and his days at home. It is soooooooo strange that now, in his own home, he is Mr. Neatness. Isn't it amazing?
ReplyDeleteMy son's 17, and I can totally relate. While his arched windows have white, 2", wood blind on them, they don't darken the room enough. That's why one is covered with a black Hefty bag, and the other is covered with a black, fleece throw. LOL
