First day of school and one very sick boy!

Today is the first day of school.I usually take a family picture of all three kids ready for school. Only two get to go today... Jesse will be home with me for a while.

His blood work came back yesterday. I only wish it would be as easy as strep... It's mono! Dr. said no school for him for a while. We go back in a week to do more blood work. He is one sick little cookie. Please keep him in your prayers. Thanks!

I am up early to head out this AM, and I am so sorry to hear that Jesse has mono. I am going to pray that he recovers quickly. It is so hard to watch your children be sick, and I have a LOT of first hand experience with that. He is in my prayers. Take care and have a great weekend. Jackie

I had mono in the 12th grade and I remember sleeping every day in history class...it was kind of ok because that teacher was really eccentric and he never taught out of the book, he just would show slides of all of his trips all over the world...I actually loved his class, but I guess I was making a judgement call on when was the best time to catch a nap...mono wipes you out!

I hope he is feeling better soon, but he will probably feel tired for a long time...what a strange thing mono is!

All the best,
Bella :)

My 17yo had mono in may. I will tell you the good thing about having it at the beginning of the year...he isn't missing any tests yet. It completely messed up test schedules for my daughter. She missed the taking the ACT and we are behind on college stuff now. Just let him sleep.

So sorry to hear the diagnosis. That takes a while to recover.

Hopefully your others are enjoying getting back to school.

Oh, Susie, I'm so sorry to hear Jesse is so sick. I'll bet he's beside himself especially with school starting. Poor thing, hopefully he'll get the rest he needs and I'll pray he recovers very quickly.

If you get a chance, come by my blog. I'm having a tea party today and I'm using the beautiful little teapot tassel you made on my table.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

Prayers for your baby. No matter how old they get it is so hard to see them under the weather. We start back Wed. were did the summer go? It is always so sad when they go back because it is just a reminder that time flies by too quickly. Have a great day and a speedy recovery to your son. Smiles and Hugs Paula

Sorry to hear he has mono. I had it the summer after Senior yr, actually fell asleep in a college interview! The guy was really understanding & I did get accepted! :) It does take several weeks to recover, and I'll pray your son isn't in much pain and recovers quickly.

Blessings,
Stacey

I'm so sorry to hear Jesse has mono. None of the girls had it. My friend's son did. I remember how thin he was, when he recovered. I hope Jesse is much better very soon.

At least you know what's going on with him now. I had mono in college. I was very sick, tired, and had a really sore throat for a few days. It didn't stop me from going to a Blues Travelers concert, though. My case was not too bad.

Hope he recovers soon.

Give that sick boy an extra hug from all of us bloggy friends, and then tuck him in for a good week's rest.
My husband likes to sing this demented song about mono:
"Mononucleosis is the kissin' disease.
It's kinda hard to shake it,
but you get it with ease."
I know it's a terrible song! And that was my terrible attempt to make you smile;-)
I'm sending wishes your way for a quick recovery.

Hi Susie,
Hey...I'm so sad to hear that your son has mono. I had two kids that had it. My son did real well with it and was only weak/sick for 3 weeks and was back to normal right away. My daughter ended up missing 6 months of school but her's was very rare and extreme.
You and your son are in my prayers.

My 19 year old son was diagnosed with mono this June. Complicated, since he was away at camp for the summer (counselor). He was pretty miserable for 5 days, in which he slept and fought a fever. We sent him echinacea, Emergencee, and a probiotic supplement and MUCH prayer. He felt markedly better by day 6, even wondering if he could try some waterskiing. The camp doctor took him out of "quarantine" after 2 weeks. Four weeks later he led his campers on a 3 day wilderness trip, without a relapse. God is good.

Hope your son recovers quickly.

Welcome to fall of my 7th grade year! Such a tough thing...especially for a kid. You have so much you want to do, and can't. He will definitely be in our thoughts and prayers. BTW...I am addicted to your blog!

Oh, Susie! I will be praying for him! I've never had it, never even been close to someone who's had it, but I know it's hard to get over. Just think of this time as good bonding time. : )

I am so sorry he is so sick. Such a handsome boy too. Tell him to quit kissing the girls and then he won't get mono. I always wanted to have that, because you usually loose weight when you have it. Never got it. Not enough boy kissing I guess.

Oh Suses, I hate to hear it's mono. Our Jenny got it when she was 16 and her body still harbors the Epstein Barr virus :( She was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia this year and her doctor moniters her very carefully with the virus. Stress will bring it back in with a vengence, as will little rest and unhealthy eating. Have him get in the habit of paying attention to his body's needs now before too much damage is done.

Oh...our prayers are with him...and your family. Make sure he gets plenty of rest and then some!

Those are beautiful pictures! He is so handsome. I had mono in high school also. My mom knew something was wrong when I couldn't stay awake to do my homework, and even in our standardized achievement testing I would finish quickly so I could go to sleep! Now that they know what it is, I hope Jesse will feel better soon and be back to his energetic self!

Joyce said...

WOW....can you get Jesse's work for him already or what??
I hope he rests up big TIME and recovers fast....tell him to do whatever they say. It's hard to have Mono when your a Senior. I know kids that have and it's very important to get well!!
I'll be praying about that for him.
See ya!
