Tables within a budget...

I needed a little table for a corner that was bare... Of course not much money to spare... hey that sounds cute, huh... I found this pressed board table at the lovely Walmart... for dollars...

I could have just put one of those cute table covers over it but ...

I broke out the black paint instead.

I painted...

and painted.. just a note.. always prime pressed board if you can....

I like the way it came out..

Just perfect for my little corner.... All for under 12.00....

Have to tell you, the blue ceiling is just wonderful. Of course I am now looking at all my white ceilings and thinking hmmmm...*Ü*

  5. Cute. I have been needing a round table next to my sofa, in what I call the green room. What is the size and what dept. was it in. We do have a Wal-Mart.

  6. I really like how it came out. I don't think we have those at our W'Mart. If so I haven't seen them. I like how you have accessorized it!

  7. The table looks great! I have been looking for a table for my guest room and that one would be perfect! I'm already off to Dollar Tree today thanks to Kimba and her birds... ha ha ... I'll have to peek into Walmart too now.:o)

  8. Great table for anywhere! I'm loving the arrangement. Greenery always adds that touch of softness that every space needs.

As for my projects, I'm always in a ADD state of mind. I jump around and have to force myself to finish. Kindof like the engine that could. I catch myself saying "I think I can, I think I can." What you can't see in my pictures are that my baseboards only have the primer coat on them. Somehow the base board painter hasn't shown back up since we moved in...Oh wait, that's me!

  13. I like it too! Hate to say it, but my male Yorkie would take one look at a tablecloth that reached the floor and think it was a good place to hike his short little leg! (I don't know how many people tell me this happens!) So I rather like the look of things "as they are" but spiffied up! Good job!

  15. Oh ... VERY nice...A budget girl after my own heart - Really.
I too have bought things at Walmart and changed them up...Nobody knows the difference and seriously after you finished that table you could have told me you bought it at Pottery Barn and I would have believed you.
It really turned out super great Susie.

  16. DO YOU SLEEP GIRL?!?!?
Every time I look at ANYONE'S comments, I see you've been there to leave a sweet note. You are taking care of your own family, a bird family, and a huge blog world family, (and I'm sure even more animals and people that I haven't listed) AAAAAND you have time to spray paint and decorate furniture! You really are wonder woman!

  17. The painted table looks great, Susie. What a great budget solution for a corner. What is that wall color behind it??

And I love your blue painted ceiling. I SO want to get busy and paint some of my white ceilings, but I'm so afraid of killing my neck. Do you have any secrets for ceiling painting? And what color did you use on yours too??

  19. I will be doing this when I have a little time on my hands (hopefully this weekend!) I've used these tables forever w/ table cloths and glass tops, but I love this new idea and I have the perfect corner for it that has been needing something!

  21. Catching up on my blog reading. I love those great finds that with a little elbow grease can deliver a lot more than initially meets the eye--or price tag. Great job. But I REALLY laughed at the previous post. You deserve mother of the year award! Through the years I've said yes to umpteen cats/dogs (which i love), several lizards, and even a pet rat (eeeks) but I dodged the bird owner request many times. Yet, I just adore caged birds at someone else's house or the pet store..go figure.

And look at it, it looks freakin' amazing, love love love it. Definitely doesn't look like a Wally-world table. Great job!

  31. Oh, that's just adorable! I don't care what people say about Wal Mart--it is just too inexpensive to hate it! Looks like I'm off to spend some money. You're to blame if my husband gets mad! ;)
