We have a lot of pictures so I will keep my chit chat short ,your welcome...

This is what my mantel looks like today... an old tin and a nest...simple!

Every room needs a focal point..This is it!

Very simple. A mantel is one of the hardest things to get right. We play and play with it and it never seems to be the way we want it. I think we try to over do... just keeping it simple works for me... Holiday's... different story!

A good view...

This is a small hallway leading to the kids bedrooms and bathroom. I made this by stuffing some flowers in a tin...

My wall of family pictures. This wall will change very soon because Im fixing to add a huge family picture on canvas. Misty (friend that was just here) is a great photographer. She informed me that my pictures were not the right size to hang on a wall. That will be another post .. Lots of great info to share with yall on pictures...stayed tuned for that!

Got to have a little fluer de lis going on..knobs..love em'

Having company meant moving some stuff around..

I had to move my foyer table in here behind the couch so we could put up a tent. I kinda like the table being in here...

Can you tell what sweetie girl is mine? Yes.. thats her making the funny face to the right... Dont know where she gets that from.

Me... ok maybe thats where she gets it, smile

I just wanted to say thank you for induring this long tour... Thank you so much! On to the give a way..

Remember that cage? No you cant have it but you sure can have one sweet rooster...

He is huge!

yes, you get Mr. Rosster and some extras in that awesome bag..

I know it's what yall have been waiting for...

All you have to do is just leave me a comment...It's that easy! I will be working my little fingers to the bone making some more tassels for yall to see. Yes, more pumpkins too! Friday I will show you all of my neat new stuff and have a winner . So from now till Friday comment your little heart out and shop for that special tassel you have been waiting on... that is unless you win it! It's been fun! Susie H~
I have been "lurking" on your site for awhile now! Just can't decide which of your tassels I am going to buy- first! Please enter me in your fabulous giveaway!:-) Lori
ReplyDeleteI was shaking my head yes while reading about decorating mantles. I am CONSTANTLY tweaking mine and changing mine and complaining how hard it is to get a mantle just right! I'm so happy to know I am not alone! As of this very moment I actually like mine! We'll see what tomorrow brings!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the marvelous and inspiring tour of your home! It has been so much fun!
That rooster is completely frou-frou adorable! I love all that gorgeous fringe!! I'll be anxiously awaiting Friday!!
Oh Susie, this is my first time to
ReplyDelete"enter" a giveaway (since I'm so new to this!). YEAH! I see the pineapple in the den...I like it! Love the rooster too, maybe I'll get lucky and win him!
Do I count??? Your living room sure looks different since I left...you didn't waste any time did you?? I love the mantel! Oh, and those sure are some cute kiddos! And the picture of you...priceless! Thanks for enduring all of us for 3 days. We love you!
ReplyDeletemisty
Good Morning Miz Susie, I spied your pineapple atop your built in and wondered if it's the same one from your dining room? I do that, move things from one room to the next then back again.
ReplyDeleteWhy is it mantels are so difficult to be satisfied with? I struggle with mine and finally think my last set up is the best yet but I'm probably just deluded. I love yours, love your sign, LOVE those lamps! Now I'm wondering if I can put a lamp on mine... The tweaking never ends!
Your Girl Power Troupe there looks like they are having a blast! And I can't wait to read more about photos on the walls as I've been wanting to do that for some time. You always have great advice.
And what a generous giveaway! Sitting here with fingers crossed I win, LOL
You have such a gorgeous home. Following your tour has given me so much inspiration. Thank you for letting all of us in "blogland" into your home. Just got my "Fancy" tassel yesterday, and it's BEAUTIFUL! Thank you! And, please enter me in the giveaway...love that rooster! How fun! Kim
ReplyDeleteI was afraid that I might be away when you finished the tour, but here I am and I NEED that rooster tassel! Hope you have visited at my place to see what I had for you and you didn't even have to enter to win. Love the pictures and I like the table behind the sofa. I have an old dresser behind our sofa and you have given me some ideas for it. Have a blessed day. Jackie
ReplyDeleteHi Susie,
ReplyDeleteI am glad to know that even my "idols" (you are definately one of them) in design struggle with their mantles. It seems like you just put things together and they look fabulous...when I do that it looks dis-organized.
Anyway, you know my new roosters on top of my armoire????.....how cute would that rooster tassel be hanging on the knob????? You can see that you need to pick me, pick me, pick me.......please.....
I have enjoyed the tour so much. I love how you decorate! And, the rooster is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteYour mantel looks great! Is the greenery fake?? I can't tell! I've loved, loved the tour of your home. Everything is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI honestly can't wait to hear any and all advice about hanging photos in your home... that is something I always struggle with.

My heart melts a little bit more everytime I see that beautiful blue ceiling. I love it. Ugh. I'm having quite the mantel issue myself (see latest post). Restraint is so hard sometimes when decorating!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for another little tour Susie. I find myself saying, "Oh, I love that, ooohh, I love that." over and over and over. Thanks for the great ideas. And by the way, I love the way the table looks behind the couch.

ReplyDeleteFirst of all, I just want to say that I love your tassels! They are amazing.
ReplyDeleteA couple of co-workers of mine and I have been inspired by your creations and would love to tackle a project of our own... do you have any tips for beginning tassel makers? We are especially interested in how you get the toppers attached to the bases.
We understand you have your own style and method and we don't expect you to share your secrets; however, if you have any tips or books/web sites/instructions you can recommend, we'd really appreciate them!
Thank you so much. :)
Love Love Love your den!! It is just so airy and peaceful and cozy!

ReplyDeleteI just found your blog a couple days ago. Oh my gosh, do you know Nester?
ReplyDeletehttp://nestingplacenc.blogspot.com/
I was reading along on your page, and it struck me how much you guys are alike (as far as decor, blogging, and even tassels!). Anyway, I love your tassels too!
-Meghan
Hey Susie,
ReplyDeleteYou definately saved the best for last! I love how simple your mantel is...I don't think I've ever seen one decorated like that. It looks really great. The lamps are a nice alternative to matching vases or candlesticks that seem to be so popular. I have that identical tin flower pocket. Mine has an artificial fern and some other dangly stuff in it. Don't you just love it?! I think your giveaway gifts are fabulous! I'm thinking barnyard thoughts...maybe Mr. Rooster will find his way to my house...smile!
-Hayley
I saw the funny face picture of you and thought to myself, "Oh Susie, if you lived close to me, I would be your bestest friend! And I would learn to overcome my jealousy of your incredible skills for making tassels, fleur de lis, scrapbook paper art, decorative tiles, and everything else you make, as well as your impeccable decorating ability!" And I'm not saying this to win your contest. I really do mean it with all my heart! You are one amazing woman!
ReplyDeleteI simply love your fluer de lis knobs.....how pretty.....I really have enjoyed your tour and just love to see others ideas for decorating...thanks so much....as for the roaster...he is beautiful...he would be welcome in our home, for sure!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love your decor! The knobs, the nest on the mantel, the colors, just plain everything! The thing I love the most though is that you are a great mom that lets the kiddos put up a tent in the living room! I have friends that their houses are always too perfect for that kind of 'mess' and it's always so refreshing to see someone put the things that matter most in their living room for all to see. Those smiling faces make every room priceless!
ReplyDeleteI. Want. That. Tassel.
ReplyDelete(in other words, Pick me! Pick me!)
: )

ReplyDeleteYour den looks great...very open and warm. And the mantle is very simple but attractive. For my house being 99 years old, I don't have a fireplace. We are house hunting and I would LOVE to have a mantle to decorate!
Your den is so inviting. I love what you did to the mantel. The rooster tassel is so cute, I'm thinking he would look great in my living room.

Please add my name in. I'll come get the bag if I win! HA!

I really love the blue ceiling in your front room. It looks so good with the wall color and the crown moulding. Someday I will get my front room "done". Is it ever??
ReplyDeleteThe mantle looks very pretty. I always have a hard time with mantles. The mantle in our house is huge!!! It's this old piece of wood, which is really neat but it is very long and I'm not quite sure what to do with it. Maybe one day I'll be brave enough to post a picture.
ReplyDeletePlease enter me for the giveaway. I love the rooster. I'm sure I could find a perfect spot for him!
