I love Ballard but the price is just a bit much for me

I had to hit Walmarts curtain clearance instead

I found these babies but they were about a foot too short

So I got me some of this..

And did a little of this..

Please dont look too close

I just pinned this up here..

So this is what you get..

I know it's not Ballard or even close

but I stayed in my budget and for that Im proud!

That looks great. I will be working on something similar for my master bedroom. I bougth some silk gingham fabric at hobby lobby for an outstanding price or $4 a yard. I want to add some cordinating fabric but just haven't found the right one. I also doing a bed skirt as well. Wish me luck.

I have "fake" Ballard curtains too! Look! http://watchthewindblowby.blogspot.com/2008/04/coinkydinkydoo.html
ReplyDeleteIt was a total coincidence though. :o)Oh... and I don't think that robins egg blue and red look bad together at all! I used to think it was weird, but I am totally spreading that color (and/or teal/turquoise)all over my house. My porch is starting to look like Miami. ha ha
Awesome job on the curtains! They look great.
Your curtains look wonderful! I love the gingham touches! I have a 72" x 72" in my living room and struggling with ideas. I may very well copy yours!! :o) ~Tricia Anne
ReplyDeleteWell I like it! I have clipped lots of curtain ideas and stashed them in my "design notebook". I also bought some McCalls patterns for 1.99 so I can whip up curtains for the new house. I am going to do curtains with fru fru trim and then make some matching pillows. Have I ever sewn curtains and pillows, Nope! Wish me luck, tee hee!

These look great! I have always loved those curtains in Ballard. Good job!!
ReplyDeleteI think it looks fabulous! I'd likely choose yours over Ballards! Seriously.
ReplyDeleteI think they look great. Good for you!
ReplyDeleteBravo! Like you, always love looking through the Ballards catalog, but things are always a bit pricey for me. We actually have a Ballards outlet nearby that I check out sometimes, but basically it is scratch and dent stuff that may be missing knobs or drawers but is STILL more money than I'd want to pay. -Julia
ReplyDeleteThey are just perfect! Nice job! Gotta love when you can take a walmart clearance item and make it into something beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAmy
Very nicely done Miss Susie~!
ReplyDeletelovely! you did a super job!
ReplyDeleteI loke what you've done--they look great. Thanks for stopping by by blog.
ReplyDeleteThey look great!!! I am going to remember this for future window mistreatments. :)
ReplyDeleteThey look beautiful and I'm sure they will always mean more to you than the expensive curtains. I always look at the things I've made in my house and beamed with pride. I don't do that when I look at something I paid a fortune for. Rock on Sister.
ReplyDeleteHUGS,
Kat
That's fantastic! You did such a great job! I'm really impressed.
ReplyDeleteOh wow those are great. I just bought some curtains that are too short for our windows in our bedroom. I need to do what you did to fix them!
ReplyDeleteOh, they look great!
ReplyDeleteThose look fabulous! I love Ballard but rarely (okay, only twice!) have I bought anything from them.

I love taking an idea and making it my own. You did a terrific job!
ReplyDeleteI think the curtains look great!
ReplyDeleteThose look great! You did a good job with them. I have some curtains in my bedroom that I plan to do the same thing with...that motivates me now!
ReplyDeleteI like yours better than Ballard's. Yes I do, indeed. More style! Great job!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy looking at the catalogs. Great inspiration.

I love Ballard. I love stealing their ideas and getting inspiration from them since I cannot afford them. (I did get my chandelier on sale from them, but that's it!)
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the curtains. I had to lengthen my Target ones but now I love them even more!
I think you did a pretty awesome job!!!!Love them, they are better than Ballards! Jen R
ReplyDeleteThey are great. Looks like one of the nesters mistreatments, that she is always telling us to try. Think adding the fabric to the bottom was a great idea. Hope I will be adding some projects for everyone to see soon.
ReplyDeleteThose look wonderful. I bought some Martha Stewart drapes from
ReplyDeleteK-mart and had the same problem. I'm so excited that now I have a solution. I love what you do it looks professionaly done. Thanks for the idea!!!

ReplyDeleteYou did a FANTASTIC job! I can't afford much myself and I am always looking for the most inexpensive way to decorate my 'cottage'. We are creative GENIUSES!
ReplyDeleteYour window treatments look like they were made exactly like that originally, fantastic job! So professional looking. I love me some gingham too, lol
ReplyDeleteI did something similar to my living room Martha Stewart KMart panels, which I've been meaning to take pictures of...
Thanks for stopping by my blog! I wish I did work at one of your HobLobs because I'd definitely share my discount with ya and let you in on the "insider" secrets, lol I just got some new home dec fabric on yesterday's truck so it should be hitting stores in your area this week or next along with the start of fall apparel fabrics. Love your blog!
You amaze me! You can do anything! I miss you,
ReplyDeletemisty
This looks great! I would never have thought to do that! Thanks for the inspiration!!
ReplyDeleteYour drapes are beautiful! No one would know they weren't from Ballard's.
ReplyDeleteGretchen
Hey Susie, email me at tpatton5@gmail.com so I have your email on hand so we can get in touch when we are ready to add all your stuff. Just title it MomDot so I remember LOL
ReplyDeleteYour drapes look great! I like the coordinating piece at the top, as well as the bottom! I love seeking inspiration from the high dollar avenues, and then "doing it cheaper"...love the challenge! :) I love all of your fringe, too! Now talking about budget, most of my trim comes from Hobby Lobby. When I walk in, the first place I hit are the fabric and trim aisles. ....maybe we were separated at birth! LOL!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Rhonda ;)
Hi Susie :)
ReplyDeleteI think they look store bought, in other words... Great job!!
